Eye For Color

Warning! It's not as easy to pick a color for the exterior of your house as you might think it is! If you have any doubts about what color to choose, don't wing it - call Florence from Eye for Color. I am a 1st time home owner who thought it would be fun to paint my house blue. Once my house was half painted, I realized the blue I picked was awful, & that I needed help. I'm so glad I called Florence. She was down-to-earth, easy to talk to, & was a great listener. She was reasonably priced & fun to work with. She has very good taste & knows what she's talking about. And she studies every part of your house & its surroundings to come up with the colors that will look best on your home. Florence is happy to give you her opinions of what colors she thinks would look good, or if you are dead set on painting your house a certain color, she will make sure you pick the best shade of that color. And she'll be honest with you if she thinks you're going in the wrong direction.

Florence is a huge help, and really easy to work with! She helped us pick out colors and materials, even find contractors, to freshen up our kitchen, dining and living areas. She knows the trends, but also encouraged us to do what most appealed to us. Honestly, I would have been overwhelmed doing it on my own. We’re really happy with the results!

Florence McLaughlin has always steered me in the right direction with her discerning eye for just the right color. I am a local Realtor and need help in advising clients as to what current color to paint their homes when they are ready to sell. Years ago Florence suggested a beautiful, contemporary color, for interior walls. I used it on three of my then listings, from condos to a $2.5 million dollar home. All properties came out looking current with a sharp, clean look and a beautiful background to the staging. Florence was a life saver and rescued me from a sea of color cards and (way) too many pints of sample paints. She narrowed it down, helped me focus and determine my goals, and allowed me to be able to visualize where I wanted to go, color wise. During the process I learned so much from her: the color wheel, undertones, color families and why some work together and others do not, and so much more. I'm also using her for input on tile, stone and fabric selections. She is professional, patient and really lovely to work with. Quite simply, Florence saved my life, well, if not my life, certainly my sanity! I had made the mistake of using an interior designer who represented herself as a "color consultant" But was so incompetent that I came home to a full house paint job that had to be completely repainted! This is where Florence came to the rescue. She was highly recommended by Tamalpais Paint in Corte Madera. She came to my house and in just over and hour we had picked 3 possible replacement colors and she had recommended to me how to step through the entire process of choosing the right color from the 3 possibilities. Her competance, experience and professional knowledge in working with all the tricky parts of choosing color; considering light variances, interior furnishings and personal tastes made this an "alls well that ends well" story.! I am planning another painting project for my bedroom and a guest bedroom and will certainly be calling Florence for that!
