Los Angeles City's Finest Architecture Studio

Weather Projects is an architecture studio founded in 2013 by Hunter Knight. Based in Los Angeles, we provide design services for architecture, interiors, and furniture. The studio's work focuses on a dialogue between forms and spaces that have the ability to offer society a sense of place, of fascination, and a new way to experience the world. We believe this focus leads to better buildings, communities, and cities for us all to live. Our residential projects create a background for modern life. We work closely and collaboratively with regional real estate developers and private homeowners. Our projects range from individual home renovations and additions to ground up single and multi-unit developments. In recent years our office has focused largely on re-conceptualized homes in and around coastal and hillside zoned communities. We believe our strength lies in complex sites with underutilized assets. Once identified, these assets are maximized through the design for any given space, context, or program. Through this process we are able to improve the health, wellness, and aesthetic qualities of the spaces while adding substantial value to the client’s property. Currently our residential projects are located in Los Angeles and Marin County.

We brought on Hunter to bring forth our vision for a multigenerational ADU/pool/landscaping project. Turns out this was one of the best decisions we made in pursuit of this dream. Like with anything that matters in life, it's the relationships that make it special. He was an invaluable resource and made the process smooth. Every conversation we had with him made us more confident and excited. He encouraged collaboration and discourse. He was quick to respond whenever we had questions. We were particularly impressed with how deftly he navigated the permitting process and how he advocated for our interests in instances of city bureaucracy. It's clear Hunter possesses a clear passion for his craft while conducting himself in a humble, approachable way. For these reasons, my wife and I unequivocally recommend Hunter and Weather Projects for architectural and design needs.

Hunter Knight & Weather Projects was an excellent fit for my two-story ADU-type project. Hunter came up with a great design solution keeping my wishes in mind and meeting City setbacks and parking requirements. Every step of the design process, from initial concept pre-schematic design through working drawings, Hunter addressed my concerns and managed to incorporate my needs into the design. We started the design processes a few months before COVID, which seemed to put the brakes on the City’s review of the drawings. Hunter managed to adjust and navigate through all of the new layers of City imposed Pandemic protocols to get the drawings approved. Hunter kept me well informed throughout the entire process, and I’m delighted with the project design. I'm in the final stages of preparing to break ground on the project.

Working with Hunter and the team was a fantastic experience. They listened carefully to our dreams and desires and made them become a reality. They understand the need for differing budgets and ensuring that the little details matter. We could not be happier with our results and they are almost a mirror image of the initial approved renderings. They supported us with recommendations of all vendors, many of which we worked with but were also open to working with other partners that we recommended. All in all a super supportive, personal experience.

Hunter, Weather Projects principal, helped us create an absolute sanctuary of a home and navigate the city approval process, all during a pandemic. We bought with the intention to renovate in a historic neighborhood, which comes with an extra layer of approvals and bureaucracy beyond the standard City of Los Angeles. Gut renovations are always stressful, and he stayed calm through it all even we did not. Our home is a craftsman exterior that Hunter transformed into a modern home with vaulted ceilings, an addition, and tasteful contemporary details for fixtures and materials. He also partnered with a cabinet maker to complete the space, ensuring an integrated feel. No detail was too small for him to advise on. Typically Weather Projects works on much larger projects, and it was a treat to get that caliber of architecture for our home.

My wife and i wanted to build a two story, 2 BR 2 BA addition to our house. Weather Projects made the entire process easy. They helped us narrow the many ideas we had to a focused plan. Having never embarked on such a project, we had lots of questions and concerns--Shannon and Hunter were extremely patient. Their years of experience were evident from the beginning. They steered us as smoothly as I could have imagined through the many difficulties involved in the building process. We are absolutely in love with the finished project that they helped us create and couldn't recommend them more highly.
