After studying Building Construction at the University of Florida, Tampa native Don Hughes spent two years in Saudi Arabia working for a multi-national construction firm where he gained invaluable experience in construction and project management. During his time abroad, Don spent his free time visiting Italy, Greece, and Spain where he studied the local architecture and construction. Inspired by what he encountered, he set out on a mission to marry these Mediterranean styles with the modern amenities and standards enjoyed in the US. Upon his return in 1985, he founded Hughes Construction to do just that. Don started out building modest homes throughout Tampa Bay, but through his 30 years in business, he challenged himself with larger and more complex projects. Today, Hughes Construction is a leader in the construction of high quality homes in the Tampa Bay area with a sharp focus on Craftsmanship, Value, and Customer Commitment.
