Heidi has been amazing to work with as we refreshed our home of 24 years. She is extremely professional, creative, and thoughtful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Heidi! She is a great listener and helped us to envision beautiful new looks in our kitchen, family room, and dining room. She has a great network of home improvement professionals whom she recommended for us to contact. With her guidance and attention to detail, we have achieved our goals. My experience with Heidi has been great. She's always available for suggestions or to answer questions, and she takes a real interest in your project. I think she's got a great eye for design and style and especially understands color and texture combinations. I contacted Heidi after locating her on Houzz.com. I was trying to determine how best to approach selecting colors to paint the exterior of my home. After going to the paint store 3 times, buying multiple samples, I still could not settle or find myself feeling good about any of the colors. I decided to contact a color consultant and came upon Heidi. I left her a message on a Friday and she promptly returned my call Saturday morning. As the painters were beginning their work the following Monday, time was of the essence. She was able to squeeze in a visit to my home that Saturday afternoon and after walking around the exterior of the house and asking me a number of questions, she confidently offered a color suggestion for the main paint color and offered 3 suggestions of color for the front door. The color she suggested was a dramatic departure to what I had been living with for 23 years. I was nervous to take the leap, but I trusted her experience, ability and vision. I moved forward with her suggestion! The house is absolutely stunning and I am SO pleased. I just love it. I've received countless compliments from neighbors, friends and family. I can't say enough about how professional, responsive, kind and creative she is. If you are moving forward with a large project (or even a "small" one), make the invest to get a professional opinion. Color is such a challenge and no one wants to have to live with something they don't love! Thank you, Heidi :).

My husband and I purchased a new condo and Heidi was an integral part of every decision we made. This included many pieces of furniture both indoor and outdoor, area rugs, lamps, accessories, artwork, bedding, and window treatment. Every decision that Heidi and we collaborated on was well throughout on Heidi’s part as she began to understand my thought process and I began to see how she often thinks outside the box which often opened my eyes and on more than one occasion resulted in an unexpected surprise. Heidi is quite capable and it is my opinion that she has the ability to meet the needs of anyone’s individual choice of style. Now that our project is complete I will miss her!

A design firm referred Heidi when I needed some help moving my mother from her home into a retirement community. Heidi could not have been more compassionate, concerned and interested in what was important to my mother. She was able to advise what cherished pieces my mother could fit into her new place and found the perfect fabric to recover her favorite sofa. She also helped select paint colors, lighting and other finishes. Heidi could have more strongly suggested that my mom purchase new furnishings, but was so intuitive to help my mom keep her things that say "home" to her. We recently downsized to a new home and needed guidance in blending our existing furnishings with new pieces to create a fresh space. We were very lucky to find Heidi and the reviews on Houzz were what lead us to her. So now I am adding to this list in hopes it will help you choose Heidi as well. We were looking to refresh our present home with a facelift. Heidi responded quickly and always verified times and dates for appointments. She was very professional and straight forward which we really appreciated. She listened to us very carefullly as to what we hoped to do and set realistic expectations. She was never pushy and when we wanted to do some of our own work she was very supportive. She has an eye for design hence the reason she is good at what she does. She tapped into our style and even helped us take a leap one time in a direction we may not have gone and we loved it! We are thrilled with all of our finished projects that she helped us with and have another one around the corner.

Although I have a good grasp of design, I was unsure as to the organizing principles of what the rooms of my house should look like. I found Heidi on the houzz website and liked the look of her work. Heidi put together a plan that beautifully organized the spaces in my home. Not only that, but I needed help in all the other areas of the inside spaces - lighting, paint colors, rugs, furniture, and art. In all these areas there are so many choices, styles, and sources that I was having a hard time knowing what to do and where to source everything. After just a few weeks of working with her, I appreciated the value of Heidi's years of experience in all these matters, as well as her eye and talent for design. What has been in achieved in my house is so much better because of the guidance Heidi gave me.

Heidi is a true professional with extensive experience and formal training at a top institution of design. Her advice was most helpful as she helped my husband and I in making many decisions from selecting paints/wallpapers/shades for the whole house to the remodelling of several rooms, including a custom tiled fireplace. Heidi is very clear and patient, which was needed to avoid some of my bad impulses and to smoothly deal with the different visions between my husband and I. Heidi has several good addresses to get quality items that fit within a budget. The only issues that happened within the project had to do with unreliable contractors or businesses changing prices of their parts suddenly, none of which was under Heidi's control. Heidi has my strongest recommendation.

Working with Heidi has been a great experience. She has helped us re-work our living room. She has helped us with paint color, new furniture and new fabric for re-upholstering two chairs. In addition, she referred us to a contractor and to the person who is re-upholstering the chairs. She quickly understood our style and made the appropriate recommendations. I agree with other comments calling Heidi a genius and a pleasure to work with. We recently moved into a Hyde Park home to start our empty nester phase. Heidi's professional, creative eye has been a life saver in developing plans to renovate the outdated areas of this home. To date, she has helped us with storage options for a mudroom in our basement, a kitchen backsplash, paint colors, and floor / wall tile for two different bath renovations. Now we are moving on to lighting, furniture and creating a new 3rd bathroom. Heidi is prompt, follows through on her commitments and communicates clearly. What I have really appreciated about Heidi is how she listens very closely and then brings you ideas that reflect elements of your personal style, but push you out of your comfort zone. We are thrilled with how our kitchen and bath look now. There is no way we would have come up with these ideas on our own. I needed help updating my kitchen that had last been remodeled about 15 years ago. I was overwhelmed with choices of materials, colors, and what would still go with what I wanted to retain from what I had previously. Heidi Thorn really came to my rescue. She was able to guide me on best choices for countertop materials and colors to go with my existing cabinets. She was able rein in some of my wilder impulses and point me in directions that really worked well and delighted me. I will definitely use her help again in my future projects.

Heidi's design challenge was to update a 13 year-old rather formal decor in the main level of our home. We changed some upholstery fabrics and replaced a small couch, a dining room mirror, dining chairs, a chandelier, and carpeting...in the direction of cleaner, sometimes bolder, designs. Heidi has unerring design vision and knowledge, even as she encouraged the value of patience and collaboration in the process of making selections. Best, I love the results!
