Hayward Design Build, and specifically Jim Bradley, did an outstanding job on our kitchen renovation. Jim and team demonstrated consistent attention to detail and creative problem solving when hidden challenges were discovered in our old house. We came to trust Jim's on site judgement and recommendations while we were travelling out of state during construction. The work was completed by our deadline. We are very pleased with the renovation. We would be happy to work with Hayward Design Build on future projects.

Hawyward Design Build were fantastic partners from start to finish. They supported us from the inception of our house design, interior selections, landscaping and so much more. They invested a signficant amount of time one on one with us to make sure the project was exactly what we wanted. We required a lot of attention as this was our first custom build project. They provided tons of guidance, insights and recommenations that led us to building the house we always envisioned, and well beyond with great guidance and ideas we would never have thought of ourselves. Nate Hayward, Jim Bradley, and the rest of the Hayward Design Build team were great to work with on our Bravo Zulu Lakeside Bar project in North Hero, Vermont. Jim Bradley was our team leader and it was a pleasure to work with such a professional person. Jim was very responsive to our questions and needs, especially when problems arose. He met all challenges in an agile, head-on manner and provided helpful input and guidance when decisions by us were required. Our project was built during the winter months so that we could meet our goal to be open during the Summer of 2022, which was a very aggressive timeline. As you can imagine, building during the winter months in northwestern Vermont is neiither ideal nor predictable. On top of that, the project site had A LOT of surprises and challenges and thankfully, Jim and the team were able to make reasonable and agile decisions when project speed-bumps presented themselves. It was very helpful that the Hayward Design Build team has good relationships with the local contractors, especially during a time when contractor staff shortages and supply chain hick-ups have been a big problem for builders during this post-COVID era. Even after the project was completed, the team was responsive to any of our needs or questions. We highly recommend the Hayward Design Build team to anyone looking for a reliable and professional building team.

We have the great fortune of living in a home designed and built by Hayward Design Build. It is thoughtfully designed, beautifully sited, and impeccably constructed. We recently hired HDB to return to our house to convert the unfinished space above our garage into an art studio. The renovation process was smooth and easy: they shared great design ideas, stayed on budget, and were always available to answer questions. We are thrilled with the end product and highly recommend working with Nate Hayward, our project manager Corey, and the rest of the HDB team.

We built our home with Hayward during the craziness of the pandemic and could not have had a better experience. They stayed on time, on budget, and are absolutely in love with the quality of the finished product. Our project manager, Jamie Faas, was communicative, organized, able to manage what felt like a million moving parts, and just a pleasure to work with. The quality of our build, the cleanliness of the work site, and the efficiency of our home are impeccable. During the design process, Nate and Jamie educated us on the future of homes and helped us maximize our investment to ensure our home would run efficiently and be ready for future advancements. We have several friends building homes in the area with other companies who have experienced 18+ month delays, inability to get materials, loss of workers, etc. We will highly recommend Hayward to all of our friends and family.

We contacted Hayward Design Build during the fall of 2019, at the recommendation of another contractor we were consulting at the time. We are eternally grateful for that recommendation, because Hayward Design Build far exceeded our expectations. We had a specific design in mind, and they were able to take that vision and improve upon it beyond our own imagination. Despite all the hurdles that 2020 presented, our build was on time and within budget. From the design process through the build we found Nate and Jamie to be very responsive to our questions and concerns. Oftentimes responding to emails or calls after hours and over weekends. Jamie made sure that things were always running smoothly, and was in clear communication with us throughout the project. In fact, we were able to move into our home before the projected end date, which is a feat in itself! Additionally, the contractors from framing to finish work were professional, respectful and experienced. We were pleased to see that there were no shortcuts taken on any step of this build. We would highly recommend Hayward Design Build to any of our family and friends. And I hope that we have the pleasure of working with Nate and his team on a project again someday.

When my family and I decided it was time to own our first house we never anticipated buying a new home. Just for fun we had our realtor bring us to one of the houses that Hayward Design was in the process of finishing. We instantly fell in love with the design and space the house provided us. We had a deposit made a week later. Mother Nature threw everything at us to slow the process, including one of the rainiest springs on record, a bitter cold winter, and ...a pandemic. However, Jamie the project manager, did an amazing job doing his absolute best to keep the schedule as tight as possible. He was extremely responsive and was a pleasure to work with. Now that we are finally in our new home we couldn’t be happier. The design is perfect. The house is super tight and insulated, a huge plus in Vermont. It is simply perfect. Though this is our forever home, if I had to build again, I would only use Hayward Design

Hayward Design Build was an amazing company to work with. The team was responsive and always there to answer questions or show us around the building as it was being constructed. HBD thought of things we never would have and were so diligent and thoughtful in their work, nothing was overlooked. Even after the completion of the building the HBD has been there to make minor adjustments and answer any questions about the building's operation. The Library HBD built is beautiful. There is so much light and the space is truly unique. The building is so efficient - easy to cool and heat. The project really felt like a collaborative effort from the beginning, but the building wouldn't be nearly as lovely as it is without the dedication of Nate, Jim, and HDB team.

In early 2018 the South Hero Library board of Trustees engaged Hayward Design Build to construct the Worthen Library in South Hero. We are delighted with the outcome. The professionalism, experience, and expertise of Nate Hayward and Jim Bradley made a very challenging budget, value engineering and construction process manageable for a group of inexperienced Trustees. Nate's guidance, vision and ability to think outside of the box allowed us to understand what was possible to achieve our dream. Jim's execution of the project, ongoing support, understanding of and sourcing of materials, vast construction experience and idea generation as the project was built out was fantastic. They are a great team and a pleasure to work with. I enthusiastically endorse and recommend Hayward Design Build.

When looking to build our new home in Vermont, we hired HDB in the very early planning stages of the project and it was best decision we made. Nate guided us through the process, helping to interview architects and navigate the tricky permitting process on our land conversion. He researched sound ecological building materials and aligned us with a team of dedicated professionals who all took immense pride in building our home as if it were their own. Jim came on board as our project manager and tirelessly supervised the details, executing our ideas in the most prudent and cost-effective manner. His knowledge of “house science” proved invaluable in figuring out the complexities of constructing an energy-efficient passive solar home while incorporating the latest technology in smart home electronics and high-tech appliances. He manages his team of sub-contractors with efficiency and respect. HDB’s commitment and attention to detail continued well after the completion of the home, fine-tuning small things here and there to make everything perfect for us. They are, without a doubt, true professionals and built our dream home to strict standards of efficiency, ultimately winning the 2019 award for the most efficient home construction in Vermont, without sacrificing form and function. We would highly recommend them to anyone wishing quality work.
