Green Spaces Landscaping worked on our backyard in Jun 2023, and the results were outstanding! Having built a house previously, I've interacted with numerous contractors, and I can confidently say these guys rank easily in the top 5%. Their well-defined process, adjustments along the way and high-quality work truly stand out. They did landscaping, irrigation and low voltage electric work - everything was excellent. Both irrigation system and lights are now integrated into my smart house solution. While their services might not be the cheapest, they're undoubtedly worth every penny.

Outstanding! This is our second project with Green Spaces Landscaping. The first project Green Spaces Landscaping transitioned a less than appealing backyard to a stunning, 2-level patio with 24x24 pavers and basalt steps and landscape lighting. Phase 2 this year involved designing a new wrap around deck that would seamlessly connect the existing exterior with the patio, new stairs, lighting, including cafe string lighting and modern planters. Our outdoor space is one of the best features of our house and we couldn’t be happier with the service — from the concept design, craftsmanship and crew, communication and attention to customer service.

Green Spaces had excellent communication throughout the entire process. They were very efficient and able to adjust last minute requests to extend our patio (which wasn't part of the original plan). Throughout the entire project we were able to ask any questions and get clarifications. Any email communication was prompt (responding within less than a day). The work that they did looks amazing. Ryan helped us redesign our backyard and his crew did a great job putting it into place. It was overgrown with random vegetation and we wanted to create different seating areas surrounded by beautiful plants. They built a patio in a corner and a stone pathway connecting the different areas of the yard, restored a crumbling back wall and put in a small area of lawn and installed a water feature and lighting. The crew did an excellent job. We love it! It's January and the plants are still dormant so they don't show up in the pictures. We can't wait for spring to see everything growing.

These guys did an excellent work on our own back yard. The crew was friendly, professional, clean, and had an outstanding work ethics. We had high expectations and this team exceeded all of them. The end results are amazing. We also used them for maintenance for a period of time before we decided we could do it ourselves due to the low maintenance install. Gratified with the wonderful job Greenspaces Landscaping did on my home a few years ago, we had some new landscaping work done that involved a sunken hot tub and patio area . Review: The Green Spaces Landscaping designer, Nancy, and the crew did a project for us some time ago at our Redmond home. I do not have a large property, but the job was taken every bit as seriously as a big one and I love the result- it is much more open, bright, and the landscaping scheme is simple and just what I wanted. And I have to put in a good word for the crew who did the hard work of removing old plants and rebuilding a wall. They were efficient, courteous, and fast and obviously took pride in their work. One young man even carefully picked out of the soil the tiny bones of a pet parakeet that we had buried there years ago after I asked him to keep an eye out for the spot. Now, THAT is good service!

We would like to share our very positive experience that we had with our designer Nancy and the Green Spaces crew several years ago They helped us to redesign our backyard with a new retaining wall that helped make the yard a more useable space. Nancy’s crew is also helping us plant the newly enhanced yard in both the front and back. She told us the project would take 2 weeks and the crew finished in just 1 days. We were very impressed with their work and they cleaned up after themselves every night. We would certainly recommend them to family and friends.

We did a landscape project that included a patio, lighting, and walls with them in the spring of 2016. I really like the quality of the work and their attention to the feedback from us. They also demonstrated great support and care after the projected is delivered to address the new demand and all sorts of question of maintenance. We have given their names out to several neighbors over the years and we see their trucks around quite a bit. Glad to know that we can have confidence in referring this great company.

Ryan and his knows their stuff. We fired question after question at him as we moved through the long list of tasks we were after and he answered all of them - correctly - off the cuff. The work his company did was excellent: attention to detail, swift, at a price that was - though not cheap - eminently a great deal for the care we received (and less than at least one competitor). We recently sold the home and the outdoor space was a selling point. Our next project at our new home will be with them, guaranteed.

We hired Green Spaces and Ryan to do an extensive backyard remodel for our West Seattle home after a detailed design process. Ryan was incredibly creative with what we thought was a pretty small space but based on his recommendations and design we added additional useable space to our backyard. The project included a built in kitchen, pavers, lighting, wall, new stairs and landing and turned out beautiful. Spending this kind of money can be stressful and we are not great at "design". Ryan helped us through all of this and was very patient. His crew (2-4 people for about 5 weeks) was incredibly friendly, polite and professional. We share a driveway leading to the project area with neighbors and they were very respectful. We have been enjoying the space for several years now and are do happy we met this firm. The designer quickly absorbed the outline of our project, added all the necessary details, and provided expert advice on the hardscape features and plantings that would work best. We went through several rounds of revisions, each leading to an improved design while respecting the cost considerations we established. Green Spaces has been great over the last 2 years. They have installed a beautiful hardscape patio, including gas fire pit and flag stone patio. They have installed chicago pizza oven and outdoor grill. Added great landscaping. Modified irrigation system to accommodate new plantings. Installed great artificial turf. When we need help with maintenance, even turning on/off or adjusting irrigation, they are responsive! When we wanted an improved pizza oven and grill, they quickly came back and changed the oven and grill (and they are both great). Night picture is old pizza oven and grill. The new pizza oven and grill is shown in day time. They did a great time with the original work and even better with the upgrades!

I highly recommend Green Spaces Landscaping. We shopped around for months in an effort to find the ideal landscaping company, and partner, to help fulfill our landscaping goals: building a fairly ambitious outdoor living space in our backyard, with outdoor kitchen, lighting, a built-in fire pit, pavilion roof structure, and supporting landscaping throughout (trees, plants, etc.). So many of the landscaping companies that we met with, while no doubt capable of doing the job, seemed to lack the necessary "customer service gene" -- we never got the sense that our best interests, as the customer, were ever truly a priority. All conversations were driven by money, which I can understand to an extent, because these are businesses after all, but good customer service needs to be prioritized. We always felt like the other landscaping companies were trying to price-gouge us and, overall, seemed unwilling to work with us to try and meet our landscaping goals within our budget. They were all very rigid and lacking flexibility, in general, with very much an "I'm a landscaping expert, and you're not -- so its my way or the highway" kind of attitude. Ryan Sarvis and Green Spaces Landscaping, on the other hand, were quite the opposite. Right when we met Ryan, we immediately could tell that he was very customer-focused. Our needs were priority number one for Ryan -- he had solid "customer service" written all over him. You could tell that customer service was very important to him which, in turn, made us feel important and, likewise, immediately created an environment of trust (which is critical when you're spending tens of thousands of dollars on a project!). We felt at ease and comfortable with Ryan from day 1. We had a set budget, which the other landscaping companies scoffed at when we presented it in the context of our project plan (a few of them even laughed...I'm not kidding). In contrast, Ryan gently and tactfully told us which of our desired additions to the backyard we could and could not include within the scope of our budget. More importantly, Ryan regularly suggested more affordable alternatives for certain items. This was a key piece of the project. Ryan worked closely with us to find alternatives/options that would keep us happy, while also keeping us under budget. He provided us with much needed guidance, and for this, we cannot thank him enough. We went over multiple project plans -- Ryan drawing up all of them -- in an effort to get us our dream outdoor living space. Ryan was incredibly helpful along the way, always keeping in close contact. He regularly emailed and texted us various ideas and example photos and, as always, never strayed away from his customer-oriented approach. He was very flexible and accommodating. In fact, along the way, due to some life circumstances, we had to make a fairly significant reduction to our budget for the project, and Ryan didn't even flinch: he quickly adjusted the project and design plan accordingly. Overall, Green Spaces' willingness to work with us and make us feel taken care of was pretty incredibly. What's even more incredible? With Ryan's guidance, we were able to get something that was virtually identical to our original vision for our outdoor living space! There were a few cutbacks and tweaks here and there, of course, but none ended up significantly altering the overall look of the backyard. We got what we wanted. It looks absolutely amazing. Green Spaces exceeded our expectations. We couldn't be any happier! As an important side note, I'd like to give a quick shout out to the amazing Green Spaces project crew who worked on-site over the months on our outdoor project. They were always very professional and respectful. Their work was meticulous, detailed and precise. The team also made sure that they cleaned up the project site at the end of every work day to make it look as nice as reasonably possible -- it never looked messy -- which my whole family really appreciated. Again, I can't say enough positive things about Green Spaces Landscaping. I highly recommend them for your landscaping needs. In fact, we have a front yard project that we hope to complete sometime this year, and we'll certainly be using Green Spaces Landscaping.

We are designed challenged. On Ryan’s first visit, we gave him a few broad ideas. He took pictures of our existing yard. On his next visit, he had photo-shopped those pictures and showed us what the finished yard would look like. Sold! We can not say enough nice things about the quality, timeliness, and doing the little extras on this job.

Contacted Greenspaces from an ad on Houzz. Ryan was a breeze to work with - really patient with our requirements, and provided us with useful insight and suggestions. The design and quote process was super easy and straightforward - largely took the most time due to how much we went back and forth over what we wanted done. Through this entire process Ryan was incredibly patient. The project started on time - with lots of communication on the scheduling and the start date. The crew was incredibly professional and meticulous. The attention to detail was amazing. There was an incident we observed where while laying pavers, the crew noticed a tiny collection of water - maybe as big as a quarter. They stopped what they were doing and undid some of their work to fix that. Their professionalism was noticed by everyone in our neighborhood, where neighbors would ask who the contractor was, and how they could talk to them.

We hired Green Spaces and Ryan to do a fairly extensive backyard remodel for our Greenlake/Wallingford home after connecting a thorough bidding process. Ryan was incredibly creative with what we thought was a pretty small space but based on his recommendations and design we added additional useable space to our backyard. The project included a built in outdoor kitchen, pavers, lighting, wall, new stairs and landing and turned out beautiful. Spending this kind of money can be stressful and we are not great at "design". Ryan helped us through all of this and was very patient. His crew (2-4 people for about 5 weeks) was incredibly friendly, polite and professional. We share a driveway leading to the project area with neighbors and they were very respectful. We had 2 minor issues (no hot water and a drain issue impacting our neighbors) and both were addressed immediately (including over a weekend). The project turned out beautiful and we are excited for the spring weather to use our new space. I would highly recommend Ryan and Green Spaces.

We tasked Greenspaces with replacing a small slab concrete patio with a much larger patio and retaining wall and for fun, a new backyard fire pit. The new patio is Belgard Tier 1 flag stone & the wall is veneered with Boral Tier 1 cultured stone. The project included, hardscaping, landscaping, lighting & irrigation. The finished look is beautiful -- natural and still structured to match the home. We worked directly with Ryan, the company owner throughout the project. I had some initial sketches that Ryan put into his software program to show us the full effect in a mock up. His contract was very clear and complete. We made a few changes along the way which Ryan had no problem with and adjusted the work agreement as we went. Ryan got back to me within 24-hours when I called with questions/concerns. The employees who did all of the hard hands-on work were great. They took their time and as I was very involved watching the project unfold, I could definitely tell they were focused on completing quality work. The bid from Greenspaces was in-line (a little less) than the other bids I received. The job was completed on time. We will use Green Spaces again in the near future for a drainage/landscaping project on the side of our house.

Greenspaces completed a deck, patio with stone seat wall and landscaping - leveling the yard, laying sod and placement of several large rocks earlier this year. We met with several other companies and decided on Greenspaces. From start to finish, Greenspaces employees were highly responsive and very professional. The crew that completed the work did an amazing job and were very professional as well. The work was completed on time, they were easy to deal with and made tweaks as requested. My experience was very positive and we are thrilled with both the look and the quality of the finished product. I recommend them because I feel like the go the extra mile for customers - and that's not easy to find.

Green Spaces Landscaping transformed our backyard into an inviting space that we are simply thrilled with. We found and purchased a design consult coupon from Green Spaces Landscaping on Angie's List to get some ideas about what might be possible in our backyard. Ryan Sarvis came out to our home and spent quite awhile sharing ideas and inspiring us. Ryan listened to our hopes and answered all our questions. We had a rough idea of what we wanted to do before contacting Green Spaces; but Ryan brought our thoughts and ideas into focus and had many ideas we never even contemplated. Ryan is very knowledgeable about landscaping, hardscaping, decking, patios, lighting and more. Although we did have a few other quotes, we felt Ryan's expertise across a multitude of disciplines would be beneficial in ensuring everything would come together as planned. We had a couple of revisions of our contract/bid and the work to be performed and Ryan was flexible with us to maintain our targeted budget while still achieving our main and most important goals/priorities. There was a bit of delay due to the poor air quality this late summer but once the project kicked off we were so impressed by the Green Spaces Landscaping crew. We were blessed to have Matteo and Hayner as our two primary craftsmen. Hayner and Matteo were wonderful to have working around our home. For six weeks they came every weekday like clockwork showing up early in the morning and working tirelessly throughout the day in the wind, rain and even some brief snow. They are very conscientious and they take great pride in their work. We had a lot of fun talking with them about the work being done and they were very helpful when we asked questions about what was being done or fine-tuning some of the decisions. When I'd ask if something could be adjusted a bit; Hayner would say 'you're the boss'! We miss the guys and hope we get to work with them again in the future. One tidbit of advice is to communicate often with your designer. We worked directly with Ryan and a few times some ideas would get mixed up or forgotten so it is important to get as much detail as you feel you need to ensure you and the Green Spaces team are on the same page and have the same expectations. That said, Ryan was always able to accommodate our needs and we truly felt that his company's ultimate goal is to make his customers dreams a reality and do so at a fair value and with quality workmanship. In summary, we are very pleased with the outcome of our backyard makeover and are so thankful that Ryan and team were able to take on our project. We hope someday to have Green Spaces back to our home and re-work our front yard!

This is the worst experience we have ever had with a contractor. We have encountered problem after problem with the firm. Some problems are bigger than others; however, the sum total paints a dark picture of the expertise, quality of service and business ethics of the firm. The multiple problems with Greenspaces Landscaping include: •In preparing the yard for planting, the crews removed vegetation from the yard that was not supposed to be removed, including vegetation in a neighbor’s yard; •The crew took ferns from the community owned greenbelt to use in my yard; •The principal of the firm even suggested to me that I just take ferns from the publicly owned greenbelt; •The crew used the greenbelt as a bathroom, even though there was a porta potty; •The crew trimmed community owned greenbelt trees without permission so they would have an easier path to walk; •The crew did not amend the soil as the contract specified; •The firm did not provide boulders as specified in the contract; •The crew planted trees without removing the burlap from the root balls; the trees subsequently died; •The crew gave tours of my yard to people passing by without my permission and when challenged about it, said they thought it was OK because “…you weren’t home…”; •The principal of the firm assured me that the lighting the firm would provide would be equal to or brighter than what already was in place. That is most certainly not the case; •The crew damaged my outdoor dining table; •The crew did not set up the irrigation system as I had clearly communicated to the principal. It took multiple attempts to get the firm to rectify the situation and one area is still not right. •The lighting system has exposed wires and still is not working properly; •The landscape does not look like what was promised in the presentation pictures the principal of the firm provided prior to my signing the contract; •Over 40% of the material planted was not appropriate for the site and died; •The crew damaged our deck and the firm has have yet to repair the problem: oFirst, the crew installed mismatched boards. oThey did not use the board manufacturer’s recommended screws and clips on those boards thereby invalidating the manufacturer’s warranty on those boards and the boards to which they attached. othe crew neglected to screw down the 40+ deck boards cut for the trim addition on two levels of the deck. oThen, the crew improperly screwed down those boards. oI first advised the principal of the firm of the last problem and he said he would investigate the costs to fix the current deck problem and get back to me after his vacation. After his vacation, he said he would get back to me about it the following week. I have waited for his response to my request that the firm fix the deck destruction it caused. •When I met with the principal of the firm on 4/26/17, he assured me that: ohe would replace the deck boards that his firm damaged and properly install the new boards (He said that he changed his mind and agreed to replace the deck boards because “…the installation was not up to industry standards…” and he “…believed in karma…”), ohe would send me suggestions of plants and shrubs to replace all of the dead ones, We have not heard from hm since that time, despite numerous emails and a letter delivered to both of the firms addresses requesting that the firm rectify the damage they have caused. What is not reflected in the above is the inordinate amount of time and energy we have had to expend to get GreenSpaces Landscaping to provide the most rudimentary customer service and quality product which it purports to offer.

We really liked working with Green Spaces. They were very professional in their interactions with us. The quality of their work was very good. We are very pleased with the way our yard looks now. They were very flexible in accommodating our special requests, and they brought good suggestions as we were designing it. At the end of the project, they fixed all of the minor issues that we had to our satisfaction.

Ryan and the crew at Green Spaces Landscaping did an amazing job landscaping my front yard. They made several visits to plan the job and took the time to show us 5 different designs and worked with us to blend a couple of the designs and some of our own ideas to get the result we wanted. Then they called while we were on vacation to ask if they could start early. I was a little hesitant to say yes but I took a chance. It all worked out great. The yard was half finished by the time we got back and in the end it looked amazing. The work they did included: - tearing out all the old bushes and grass, and an old concrete walkway - putting in a new stone pathway - putting in a drip irrigation system - putting in all new native plants and mulch - adding 6 large boulders - tearing up the grass (mostly weeds) in the side yard - laying down plastic and 5/8 in crushed stone - regrading the walkway into the side yard Overall the work was well done. The clean-up was thorough. Ryan and his crew were easy to work with and kept all of the promises they made. I was so happy with their work that when they were done, I hired them to do regular maintenance. I would hire them again and recommend them to friends.

Ryan Sarvis of Green Spaces was a pleasure to work with. He had a wealth of great ideas to improve my patio and was very responsive to my needs and concerns during the construction phase. An Eco-friendly Transformation We have a compact front and side yard located close to a salmon-bearing stream. We have always been committed to conserving water and using no pesticides and herbicides. However, our lawn received too much shade from structures and trees, and suffered from poor drainage, and an abundance of moss and mushrooms. We interviewed some landscape designers to find a better alternative to water-intensive grass, and were impressed with Green Spaces Landscaping’s focus on sustainable native gardens. Ryan Sarvis, the Principal Landscape Designer, carefully listened to our concerns and came up with an attractive low-maintenance, water-thrifty, bee-friendly perennial garden with improved drainage and plants that will not outgrow the small space. Ryan and his team did a superb job in half the expected time – the lawn, old shrubs and tree stumps were removed mechanically, without using toxic chemicals, and the soil was amended. Everything was kept very tidy. Our new yard looks open and welcoming. We look forward to our upcoming backyard project and we highly recommend Green Spaces Landscaping.

Working with Green Spaces was a pleasant, non stressful experience. I hired them for three projects, front and back yard, and redesign of an area off the patio. I hired Greenspaces to replace my outdated underground sprinkler system. They were thorough, clean, and did a great job. Simply stated, Green Spaces in the most thorough, professional, and organized contractor we've ever worked with. The Green Spaces team is courteous, on-time, clean, respectful, and very hard working. The scoping and quoting process is timely and accurate. Project management communicates changes in scope, new ideas, and there are no surprises.

Green Spaces Landscaping has done work for me more than once - most recently by replacing boards on my composite decking where it was coming loose from a prior contractor's shoddy work. They were friendly and professional - realistic about scheduling since they had to order the boards, quick to notify me once the materials arrived, on time, on budget, and they did a great job of cleaning up when they were done.

I hired Green Spaces to transform my back garden which was so overgrown it was unusable. I had a hard time visualizing what the space could look like, I feel I gave Ryan and crew loose guidelines rather than clear direction. I am so pleased with the way my project turned out! We had several landscapers come to give us a bid on our project. We didn't have a budget in mind at first but knew what we wanted. Bids were all over the map. We met with Ryan to discuss our ideas of what we hoped our backyard could look like. Within days he provided us a plan and provided pictures that really gave us a sneak peak of what it would look like. His bid was reasonable and once we agreed on the project we provided a down payment and received a start date. Our project was started within days of the date estimated, altered by winter weather, but pretty close to the date he originally gave us. The project took about one month even with additional work we added to the original design. Ryan's crew is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and courteous, and clean up daily before they leave the site. When we had concerns or changes, they were addressed immediately. Ryan came to the site multiple times to check on progress and to get my input on placing of pavers, lighting and plants. We had an extension made to our deck which turned out beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Our paver patio and walkway are stunning and the lighting is spot on! We can't wait for warmer weather so we can get out there and enjoy it with our family and friends.

Ryan did a complete makeover of our townhome's front yard. He removed the dated, tired pavers and installed a large patio, with benches, new locked, gated entrance, a dog run area and perimeter landscaping. His work far exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, time to complete, attention to detail, and overall customer interaction...and my expectations were very high! I would recommend Ryan and his company to anyone interested in small or large scale work (mine was probably medium scale). I am extremely satisfied.

Green Spaces was excellent and provided us with exactly the yard we wanted, earlier and faster than expected. When we began the project, we had a very problematic backyard and a lot of slightly complicated needs (optimizing for toddler/dog sharing a space that was overgrown and full of mud with a falling down fence). They tore out a rotting deck and fence, created a new landing and set of steps and a new patio, a new section of fence and new gate, a dog run with unique design to suit our needs (which looks better than I could have imagined!) and selected plantings that I'm excited to see bloom in the spring. I hope we can hire them to do our front yard next!

We had them completely redo our backyard. We found them to be professional, timely, organized, and very friendly. We are planning on using them again for future projects.

We were so impressed with Green Spaces from start to finish. Throughout the whole process, Ryan and his team were friendly and professional. They listened carefully to what our hopes were for our project, and came up with various designs for us to choose from, which went above and beyond what we had hoped for. They designed a dog run/play area in a part of our yard that we had deemed a waste, until they transformed it into a functional and asthetically beautiful place. They also transformed another area of our yard which was unused and overgrown with ivy into a serene, lush garden and flagstone patio with fire pit. Highly recommend them!!

Ryan and his crew did an outstanding job! I really liked the fact that the same crew came every day. They were very professional. The project turned out even better than we could have imagined! The outdoor fireplace was a masterpiece in stone and we were very happy that Ryan suggested making a bench of stone on either side of the fireplace. It's great for outdoor party seating. We would definitely hire them again!

Delays in estimates, did not get a lot of creative options for the budget I asked for. I would have imagined that they would give me options where I can work out solutions over period of time or save cost. Very expensive from my point of view. I think as a creative process of find a good and possible the beautiful solution given the contains. There was no problem solving and working with the client.

Would definitely recommend Green Spaces. Had them come out to bid on a deck project and decided to get them to also look at our non-functioning fence gate. Not only did they do an incredible job at building a spacious new backyard deck (with amazing lighting) but even came out early to fix the fence so we could use the gate again. While it turned out there was a start delay due to weather (which they promptly informed us of), they came in right on schedule and budget. Ryan was always available for questions and walk-thrus and the crew was professional, respectful and extremely talented at deck and stone work. Did an amazing job that was better than we expected and they cleaned up everything so you would never know they were there at all.

He was always responsive to our needs and desires and was very helpful with design suggestions and efficient with execution of our plans. In addition, he was always pleasant to work with. We had a new paver walkway and stoop installed plus a full redesign of the landscaping in our front yard that included all new plants, trees and lighting by Ryan and his former company prior to his relocation to Seattle. I received 4 estimates for the work, including Ryan's. One was from someone I had worked with satisfactorily in the past. Ryan was chosen for a few reasons. He was responsive, timely, flexible and creative. You can tell he enjoys his work. The job was done on schedule and looks terrific. We've had colder than usual winter here in DC and the work has held up perfectly. No settling, cracks, or other problems.

Ryan Sarvis designed and implemented our backyard landscaping. We had just moved in to an older house that had been renovated but the back yard had been neglected for 40 years. Ryan took the time to understand what we were looking for and made constructive recommendations on plant types that would thrive in the setting. He came up with a beautiful design that included a paver patio with built-in benches, lighting, and a pool shed with a pergola that made the old pool look new again. The landscaping design was beautiful and provides much-desired privacy. His planning and scheduling was great and his leadership of the implementation team was outstanding.

Ryan Sarvis, Designer and Manager at Green Spaces Landscaping, LLC was the designer and supervisor for two projects at our home in Maryland, both incorporated hardscape and plantings. One job involved a large stone patio and the second was landscaping a large area behind our house and installing a stone pathway along the side of the house. We liked him so much from the first job that we didn't even seek a another bid on the second. In both instances his work was superb, he was attentive to detail, creative and extremely knowledgeable about plants and shrubs. He was meticulous in assuring that we received what his designs promised. He was on site everyday during both projects and worked closely with the installers in both instances. We found Green Spaces on Houzz in the fall and contacted them and two others. As soon as we met our designer we knew that they understood what we wanted. They designed a new walkway, front yard planting, and a great backyard retreat. The project was below our budget. The stone mason crews were top notch and very professional. They completed a week ahead of the original wrap up date. Our family loved the space and Christmas and we are very pleased. We look forward to working them in the near future.
