The Great Room

I have been a client of Karen Givnish for over 20 years and over those 20 years I can call her friend. Her talent and patience over the years has been so appreciated. She has helped me thru so many decorating choices, especially after we built a new vacation home and needed to furnish the entire house. Karen not only helped to create a beautiful comfortable interior, she also helped with placement of lighting and electrical outlets and paint colors during construction. Don't know what I would have done without her help and talent.

This is the second home that we have enlisted Karen and The Great Room team. The first being a coastal home constructed from the ground up. The second, a 200 plus year old city home with a ten year old addition. The Great Room has exceeded our expectations every time - The accolades from our guests never stop!!

Karen has a tremendous sense of color and light! She brought so much dimension and texture to our rooms! And she is happy to work with existing pieces that you choose to incorporate. I highly recommend The Great Room.

my wife and myself have used karen givnish ( the great room), for two large projects. the first one, was in 1999, when we built our custom country French home. the second time that we used karen was in 2017, when we renovated our smaller , "downsized" home. obviously we were VERY happy with Karen's vision/ideas/plans, as we used her for a second time, when we downsized. she is extremely organized, detail oriented and creative. after spending much time exploring what we were looking for, she ALWAYS, comes with a half dozen different ideas/pallets/ design plans, for us to choose from. in the rare instances that none of the six plans were exactly what we were looking for, she gladly went back to the drawing board, and very quickly came up with additional designs/ideas. she is able to blend sophistication and comfort, and make it "art". in the end, not only does our home look really beautiful...………...it also looks like "us". karen is certainly not a "cookie cutter" designer. it always amazes us, that she will put so much time into picking out , exactly the right fabric for a pillow!! i would highly recommend karen, from the very beginning of the design project, including working with the architect, to the last finishing touches...…...as she chooses the right pillow fabric!!!

My husband and I both love working with Karen Givnish. In the last 10 years, we have completed multiple projects, including a design/build home, a total interior condo remodel, and a large interior project as well as several smaller projects. Two of the large projects have involved travel and long distance communication with contractors. Each has had a unique twist and each time she has hit our mark perfectly. She is a great listener, understands our interests and taste and makes the projects both enjoyable and productive. Karen is creative and has put together the perfect designs for difficult spaces. Her communication skills create a strong working relationship and have enhanced the work with contractors. Love working with her so much I am almost sad when a project ends!
