五箇山和紙の里

五箇山和紙は八尾町、朝日町で生産されている和紙とともに「越中和紙」として、 国の伝統的工芸品に指定され、その長い歴史と伝統、山里の自然が育んできた和紙文化として改めて評価されました。 現在、桂離宮の障子紙をはじめ宮内庁や国の重要文化財の補修用紙になくてはならない存在となっております。 また、ちぎり絵や様々な美術工芸品の素材や版画、絵画など芸術家からの特注品にもなっており、富山県内、地元南砺市に おいても、建築施設や祭り行事、学校の卒業証書、また一般のご家庭とあらゆる場面で生活に癒しを与えております。 Gokayama washi paper has a long tradition and has been a success for over 1,200 years. It has been used for repairing important cultural properties of the Imperial Household Agency and many other things, including the shoji-paper of Katsura-Rikyu (one of the most beautiful, artistic, and well-preserved Imperial villas in Kyoto). Nowadays Gokayama washi paper has attracted much attention as a material for various arts and crafts, including chigiri-e, many artists such as woodblock printers and painters look for it especially for their works.
