American Building & Design is a family-owned, remodeling/renovation contractor, custom cabinetmaker, and design service contractor. We were established in 1996 with a philosophy is to foster an environment where communication is paramount, and all details are discussed before they are implemented. Our business is unique for several reasons. The owner, George Trojan Jr., completes the majority of all carpentry work himself, hiring helpers and subcontractors as needed. This strategy translates into greater quality control and consistent momentum for a project to be completed on time. Another unique quality to our business is that generally only a single project is worked on at a time, which again, improves quality control and maximizes time associated with a single project. Our past customers will tell you that we are truly dedicated to quality workmanship, sensitive to timelines, and overall customer satisfaction. We love challenging and detailed projects. Our extensive background in structure, fine-finish carpentry, and architecture allows us to live my passion. We met George, the owner of American Building & Design at a construction site in Wells Maine. During the conversation we learned that not only does he build homes but also designs house plans. We decided to hire George to design the house plan for us. The location of the lot presented many challenges. He patiently collaborated with us to transform to our requirements and wish list. He drew several architectural plans which allowed us to choose. His ability to detail and style resulted in an exceptional design. George completed the project for a very fair price. This day and age it is rare to find tradesmen who are accountable, skilled, and passionate in what they do. George at American Design checks all those boxes and more. We have had several projects completed by him. The quality and craftsmanship is top notch. George is very thoughtful and will go the extra mile in helping you choose designs and materials that fit within your budget and expectations on any project. I can't recommend enough and look forward to working with him in the future.

We hired George to design the interior floorpan and exterior design of our major remodel and addition to our house. I gave him a brief of what we were looking for and was blown away at how he interpreted our needs and wants and pulled it all together into a comprehensive plan. His attention to detail far exceeded our expectation, from details like moulding to creative solutions for access to the second floor (a new staircase in a spot we'd never considered - but works perfectly). He's got a great attitude, knows construction inside and out and was great to communicate with. I highly recommend George.

George is the only person I will let work on my house. His attention to detail is fantastic and truly cares about the job he is doing, takes his time and does it right. You won't find anyone better or more pleasant to have working in your home.

George is one of the finest contractors I have had the pleasure to work with. My wife found his website and was amazed by his custom stairs and other projects. We initially brought him on board for a custom mud room wardrobe built-in for an older house we purchased. After seeing how well this job was going, we added some extensive repair work to exterior doors. The previous owners of the house had not flashed and water-proofed correctly which resulted in rot to some of the structural wood. George was able to assess and repair the damage. He explains every step of the way, is responsive, communicative, and highly competent. He's excellent at fine finish carpentry work, as well as large home improvement projects.

We hired American Building & Design to tear down our existing pressure treated deck and build a new Trex Deck. George was excellent from start to finish! He came out to our house, took a look at the project, measured and got back to us within a week with a Very affordable estimate. George's workmanship is excellent! we are very pleased with our new deck, and the best part is no more staining or painting! We will definitely be calling American Building & Design for our next home improvement!

George Trojan is a gifted and talented professional. He excels in both general contracting of large building jobs as well as being a detailed perfectionist in finish carpentry projects. His work ethic and good humor along with his desire to please the customer make him a delight to work with. Working as the project manager in the rebuilding of my home after a fire, I found him easily accessible and available and immediately responsive to my questions, requests, and suggestions. The advice he provided on design was superb and his ability to grasp and handle a large number of challenges and problems made the job go quickly and smoothly. His practice of working through and completing one job before taking on another made me, as the customer, feel like I was his first and only priority. I would say that his character and integrity make him a contractor you can depend on and put your trust in. I recommend him without reservation.
