I give John 5 stars he and his crew did a great job the only thing with his crew i caught them consuming cocaine and drinking beer on the brakes and in a Saturday the guys looks under the influence of something buy yet they did an awesome job no doubt about it

I would not trust John's company of Sundance. He over charges for his work and will not stand by it. I had to take him small claims court. We did mediation and he agreed to take care of things that were not right. After we left mediation, he refused to honor our agreement. It cost me over $15,000 to fix the irrigation and drainage problem he created.

For our garden clean-up, the company sent 2 crew members who worked from 8am-2:30pm at our place with a lunch break in between. So the total hours are no more than 13 hours but we were charged 18 hours!! when we asked the company about the obvious overcharge, the owner responded in email:"the time is portal to portal. Equipment has to be loaded prepped and driven to site, material has to be delivered to dump site and back" "We also had to rent a chain saw to remove the dead birch" So be cautious on what they'll charge you: if they don't have the right equipment that they should have, they'll charge you for the time they need to rent it. and how do you know how many hours they spent to load the equipment or how far the dump site is for them to drive there to dump?! You may ask why not ask for a quote before the work. Well here's the owner's response:"we are dealing with nature which has it’s yearly changes and specific cyclical needs. That’s why I can’t tell you how long it takes for a specific tree pruning to create a form from that years growth. It’s not as simple as defining a simple fence project or concrete pour which can be figured specifically by the sq.ft. or cubic yard." So that means forget about the quote. It's our fault that we still hired them because of the seemly good reviews on google. Wish we had seen their Yelp reviews beforehand

John/Sundance Landscaping designed and installed a beautiful backyard in our new home in Kirkland last month. When we moved in this past summer, our yard consisted of a sloped mulch/sod combo with a concrete patio with nearly a 6" drop to the mulch/sod. It is now a two level yard with lighting, gas fire pit, natural rock waterfall, a beautifully tiled patio and several "rooms" (picnic table, gas fire pit area, lounge) and lots and lots of beautiful plants. John and his crew were professional, on-time, skilled and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure working with them. John has a great eye for design and the resources to make it a reality. I highly recommend Sundance Landscaping.

We've done half a dozen heavy timber structures for Sundance Landscaping. John and his team are fantastic to work for. John's designs are well thought out and creative. His crew is meticulous and careful with installations. Work was executed on time and bills were paid on time. The end results that Sundance creates are always impressive.

We have worked with John for over 20 years and: that says it all! He is very, very talented, and creates beautiful spaces that reflect our personality, and lifestyle. John is careful to incorporate the interior and exterior spaces so that each is an extension of the other. His knowledge of plants is enclyopedic; and he uses this knowledge in combination with the client's vision to create lovely and eco friendly gardens. I will add that many of his employees have been with him since we met. He and his staff know about proper drainage, lighting, irrigation and soils. John has an affinity for trees, dislikes box hedges and loves to create fountains, and water treatments. Your outdoor living space will be unique and simply put, magnificant. Finally, I will add that his services are expensive, but worth every dollar.

We started working with John early 2015. Ours is the "relaxing" kitchen and seating area projecthttp://www.houzz.com/projects/1650272/outdoor-kitchen-and-seating-area . Our original idea was to just replace the patio and build in the weber. John had other ideas! The final project is way better. As you can see we have a great covered sitting area and kitchen that we use for a lot of the year. (we did rotisserie turkey at Thanksgiving). We pretty much moved out there last summer so this is more of a house extension than landscaping. The good thing with John is that he is creative and he wants to get it right. You don't have to tell him to fix things if they look wrong or could be improved. Very rare with contractors. He ha a wealth knowledge about plants which will enhance the construction and really finish it off. The negative is that it is easy to get carried away with John and do way more than you intended. Be sure you don't do more than you need. You can always add later. Since the kitchen and sitting area we have had him back to do the front. He did a great job with interesting trees and brought a lot of class to an area that previously would have not looked out of place with a rusting car sitting on blocks ;-) We have phase three starting as soon as the rain lets up and he can get machinery around the back.

John Kenyon and his team have been working with us long enough that we've grown "older" together, starting after the 1993 Inauguration Day storm blew an old growth cedar onto our roof. His first step was to develop the structural elements of the property, which have aged so well, e.g., pathways, stone steps, berms, bluestone walks, and strategic plantings of lovely trees that have provided the skeleton for many subsequent plantings and updates. His esthetic vision has been borne out by the test of time -- he recently remarked that we’ve created a small arboretum, and he’s right. Every specimen is wonderful! Besides the fine outcome of his work, we’ve enjoyed his workers and have especially liked that John truly enjoys the creative elements of his work. He is happy to share that too, which makes it really fun to work together. He also handles with grace and humor the occasional strong opinions offered by my wife if he and I stray off track. I recommend John and Sundance Landscaping without reservation – I’ve got the experience with them to back it up!

Sundance did a wonderful job on our entire landscape project: John and the team built a two-story stone outdoor fireplace, complete outdoor kitchen and grill area and a beautiful covered porch with shingled roof that matches the house. Sundance also included landscape lighting and integrated firewood storage, plus a separate hot tub area and sound system. John designed a wonderful landscape including a variety of eye-catching (not typical) landscape trees and flowing fruit trees. I think highly of John's design skills, attention to detail and ability to work with my family needs. The entire family enjoys the project on a daily basis.

I hired John initially to mediate a terrible looking driveway after a property dispute. By the time he was done, I loved the driveway so much we went on to put in a front door fountain, modify a backyard and put in an amazing covered deck with an outdoor kitchen, heating, and entertainment. The deck is the most popular family hangout even in cooler weather. The kids will just put their jackets on. John's vision of what needs to be done is spot on, his attention to detail is impeccable, his materials are quality and his workers were respectful. John and his staff became part of my family. You will not regret hiring Sundance landscaping.

Because of John's vast experience with landscape architecture and design, he offers a lot of new and interesting ideas with every project. He is very creative, so we utilize him not only for landscape design input, but outdoor furniture ideas as well. I value his opinion and trust his judgment for all of our outdoor needs.

Design work was creative and thoughtful about details like drainage and privacy. Sundance's team showed when promised, worked consistently and meticulously. Worked to preserve existing plantings. Excellent flatwork and retainer walls.
