I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't fascinated by design and color. Growing up, my parents owned a chain of children's furniture stores and I loved helping them create floor displays and deciding what to feature in the window. Years ago, when I started Just the Right Piece, my focus was primarily residential design. My goal was to help clients create beautiful and practical living spaces, guided by their own lifestyles and personal taste. Since then, I've loved the transformation process. Whether it's a kitchen remodel, building something brand new, or simply re-organizing and re-decorating, I am passionate about every environment I create. I never tire of seeing the way simple, clean, and elegant design can breathe new life into old spaces. After doing this for more than 13 years, there is not a single aspect that I don't enjoy. I love it all--design, renovation, decoration, planning, and on-site management. I look forward to working with you and, together, bringing your vision to life.

My husband and I first decided we needed the help of an interior designer when we refinished our hardwood floors of our newly purchased home and they came out pink, requiring us to redo the entire project. Luckily, our realtor then recommended Emily to us. We’ve never looked back. Emily has helped to turn our house into our home room by room. She has quickly learned our taste, always staying within our budget to make our home a place of refuge. We appreciate her approach, evaluating the project, then bringing options into the home to help visualize each piece in our space. She has helped transform each area with larger projects like remodeling our fireplace, or showing us how much of an impact wall paper and beautiful unique accessories in a butlers pantry can make. She is well connected with great contacts for any project, and works great as the manager to help make an idea into a reality. We have loved working with Emily and Just the Right Piece and look forward to continuing to work with her as we continue to transform our space room by room.

I was so fortunate to have been introduced to Emily when I was ready to renovate my 1 bedroom apartment in Manhattan. She is so creative and knows how to think outside the box. She took my vision and created a look that was beyond what I could imagine. And kept my budget in mind. Anytime I went to her with a problem, she always came up with a solution. Renovating can be very stressful, and she managed to keep me calm throughout the process. In addition to all her technical, creative and organizational skills, she is a pleasure to work with. Emily from Just the Right Piece is the absolute best! She first redesigned my dated traditional family room with a more modern flare. She created a warm environment with a soft palate and pops of color. We loved the work she did so much that we continued to redecorate other rooms in the house. Emily is full service and uses reputable contractors. My original hard wood floors have been refinished, new base board molding added, window treatments replaced, and walls painted. She even designed a custom table to fit my entry way space. I love that she will meet me at furniture stores to help pick out sofas, tables, chairs, etc. The most fun is when she fills her car with accessories so that I can pick out the perfect pieces to fill my space. In all the time that we have worked together, Emily has kept my budget in mind. I highly recommend Emily and Just the Right Piece for all your renovation needs.

Emily is designing our basement transformation, changing the structure, look, and design elements of this previously tired space - the place in our home we universally avoided. The transformation has essentially doubled the usable square footage of our house; our basement is now homey, warm, and fun. Emily has already undertaken our family room and a variety of other rooms in our home. No detail is too small for her tasteful, discerning, and creative eye; designing every room to surpass the style of even what we had in mind. She helped turn our new house into our home.

It has been such a pleasure working with Emily. As new homeowners we needed help across the board from decor, to furniture and some larger projects: floors, lighting, laundry room renovation etc. Emily helped us every step of the way. Emily understood my style and helped it all come together, I am so happy every time I walk into each room we have worked on together. I recently had the pleasure of working with Emily when I moved into a very bare, very boring, very white home. She carefully selected each piece of furniture, artwork, and decor, down to carefully placed accessories, to create a cohesive and stylish look that perfectly suited my taste. She understood me! Throughout the project, Emily brought in contractors to make any physical modifications needed. She was transparent about costs. Everything was done from the comfort of my own home. There were many pieces I ordered sight unseen and trusted Emily. I'm so glad I did! Emily just gets it! She has a unique ability to understand your style and then run with it. She was also able to push me outside of my comfort zone just the right amount for amazing results. Emily has helped me with my master bedroom and bathroom, kids bathroom, a complete renovation of our small apartment in NYC and we will be starting the basement this summer.
