Field Office Architecture

I have collaborated with Chris Barnes at Field Office of Architecture on two projects (the Mount Macedon House and the Grampians House) and can't recommend Chris highly enough. Apart from being a consummate professional with an exceptional architectural talent, Chris listens and is able to translate a brief into a fantastic architectural outcome. For the best results, you need to trust his vision.

We commissioned Field Office Architecture to design and project manage the renovation of a Victorian terrace in Clifton Hill, as well as the landscape concept to complete the project. We're really happy with the result - a stylish and light-filled contemporary space that takes full advantage of the site.

Our experience with Field Office team was absolutely amazing, fun and extremely professional. The final design was a massive success turning out better than we ever could have imagined. We engaged Field Office Architecture after interviewing a few different architects, in relation to a major renovation of a double storey Victorian house. They stood out to us for their ability to blend the old with the new as we wanted to retain the Victorian features whilst creating a modern home that could stand the test of time. Field Office Architecture also appealed to us for their demonstrated experience in bringing light into dark spaces in creative ways. They certainly helped us achieve this in what was formerly a dark Victorian home. Our living areas are flooded with natural light, with an opened up kitchen connecting to a sky window covered living and dining area, channelled into the house from a variety of angles which helps to create an inviting and ever changing internal landscape depending on the time of day. We had the pleasure of working directly with Chris Barnes, and we feel so lucky to have been guided by his experience and creativity. We are so grateful to have had Chris and his team with us on this journey and couldn’t be more pleased with the final result. The house has met all our aesthetic dreams but is also functional, comfortable and feels like the home we had hoped to create. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending their services. We engaged Field Office Architecture in 2016 for a renovation for our Victorian house in Prahran and couldn't recommend them highly enough. We had no experience at all with building or anything like that, and the way that Chris and his team were able to guide us through the process with no nasty surprises was really appreciated. We'd heard a lot of horror stories from friends about doing a reno, and were thrilled that everything has gone really smoothly. On top of that, the design is amazing. Can't wait to move in!

We were so nervous about engaging an architect to help us design our first home but Chris and the team at FOA really made the process so much fun for the whole family. Communication was always so clear throughout the journey which took about 2 years from concept to the day we moved in, and the guidance through the design process was incredible.
