プロフィール

Ellen is an award winning designer active in Portland for 15 years. She has valuable knowledge in many areas of interior design – both commercial and residential. From initial design meeting to final occupancy, Ellen can guide the client through the design process as well as the sometimes-complicated permitting process in most metro-area jurisdictions. Ellen has a BA in Interior Design, participates in both IIDA & ASID and holds a board position with IDC-Oregon. In addition to working as a designer, Ellen also teaches at the Art Institute of Portland and Portland Community College.

As a contractor, I absolutely love to work with Ellen. First of all, her designs are amazingly creative. She has a gift for evaluating the space, understanding clients’ needs and aesthetic and then creating a brilliant stylish design. Ellen also creates wonderful construction documents. Her clear concise construction documents provide a very clear road map for the construction team to get projects done quickly and efficiently on time and on budget. She is also very effective at the important task of procuring permits. While this process can sometimes be challenging, it is nice to have Ellen, with her years of experience working of with local building departments, in your corner. Bottom Line: I cannot recommend EMC Design Strongly enough!

Ellen has been a crucial part of both a lightweight kitchen remodel as well as a full teardown basement remodel. For both projects, she brought ideas to the table I never would have thought of that have significantly improved the usability of both spaces. Her materials suggestions are always well thought out and appropriate to both the context of my home as well as my taste and budget. Ellen is always reliable, creative, responsive, and positive. She also introduced me to a gem of a general contractor!

My wife and I have worked with Ellen on remodel projects at two different homes in Portland. Ellen is professional and extremely knowledgeable and fun to work with. It's impressive how organized she is and efficient with the time she spends on your project and it's also worth noting that she really knows how things work with the city when it comes to submitting plans that get approved.
