Working with David and his team has been an exceptional experience! They undertook a rear extension and a kitchen refurbishment for us, and the results are beyond amazing. David is a man of his word; he keeps his promises and ensures that every aspect of the project is handled with care and precision. One of the most admirable qualities about David is his dedication to problem-solving. He doesn't just walk away; he stays committed until every issue is resolved satisfactorily. Reliability, professionalism, trust and respect would be the main traits I’d use to describe David, Richard and the guys who have worked at our place. From the initial visit until the completion date, David and the team were exceptionally good in terms of communication, clarity of timelines, costs, process, etc. Despite it being a somewhat daunting process for us as we had no knowledge in this area, we felt we always knew at what stage we were and, even with some delay (at no fault of their own), we always felt “in control” and supported. Their appreciation for the level of stress that such a major disruption would bring to our lives (we are a family with very young children) was admirable, and they always looked to accommodate to our needs very sensibly, often going the “extra mile” to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. In the issues we had, and that always happen in this context, there was always a clear acknowledgment of responsibility, and the solutions were immediately found and applied. We are extremely happy with the outcome and won’t hesitate in recommending the services from “Bespoke Joinery & Building/ Nottingham”. We will, most certainly, use their services again. Work conducted: - Full refurb of existing ground floor - Rear Extension - Garden Patio - New Kitchen/Living area - Downstairs toilet - Garage Conversion - New pitched roof

In short, we could not recommend David highly enough. In detail, when we decided to get our extension done, we came across David by chance. At the time it was a risk going with him not knowing enough about his project portfolio but we decided to trust our gut instinct. After our first meeting with him, we had felt that he understood us and could deliver what we had envisioned for our home. David has everything one would expect from someone to trust your home with, he has the creativity, the vision, the knowledge, the problem solving ability and the understanding of every aspect of a project. The work he has done for us are: - Wrap-around single storey extension - Kitchen and utility - Full refurb of existing ground floor - Downstairs toilet - Landscaping including turf and planters - Insulated Garden room and shed - Stair bannister including under-stair storage - Fitted wardrobes in loft bedroom There is never a building project that goes without any hiccups but every time we had a issue, David was there to solve it for us. We were so pleased with David’s work that while our extension was going on we asked him to build us a garden room/shed and fitted wardrobes in our loft master bedroom. He always gave us a fair price for the extra work, which made us believe in his work ethic even more. We are extremely happy with what he has created for us and recommend him highly to everyone.

We sent out a request for quotations to a number of contractors as we were looking for one company to manage the complete refurbishment of our kitchen/dining area which involved a full rip-out, a number of walls removing and then complete rebuild. The design meant moving the front door, completely leveling the floor, hiding the steels in the loft to give one continuous ceiling, full re-wire and lighting scheme, new windows and patio doors, new front door.... and then the installation of floors, full kitchen and island plus a bespoke unit for the dining area. We chose David and his team based on his attention to detail, level of finish we were looking for and his ability to take care of the full scope of work. Bespoke were not the cheapest quotation we received, but we felt comfortable with the costing and the level of finish that was spec'd. The work was completed to a very high standard, the design flexed through-out the process and David and I had many discussion on budgets with-out compromising the design, but these were all handled in a open communication working together to complete the project. The only reason I do not give David 5 stars, is that the team are very busy, and at times you can tell that they are juggling priorities and the time line did slip. But if you are looking for contractor to deliver a 'bespoke' solution, with a high quality finish you won't find on the high street, then I would recommend his services. After the completion date, and the balance of the contract was paid, we had a few snagging issues which is not unusual, which David and the team have now resolved. For example the doors on the pull-out corner units were flexing, more a mechanical design issue from the supplier rather than David's issue, but he had individual stainless steel brackets produced which were fitted and have completely resolved the issue.

After 3 quotes and with recommendations from our architect we thought we had made a safe choice. .How wrong we were . With an initial agreement to complete in 14-16 weeks .After 6 months and over £37,000 spent we had to end our contract .David would not agree a completion date though several meetings and emails had been sent Neither interior nor exterior work completed .workers only on site less than 47%of the time and several weeks with no workers at all . Poor communication from David Morton .We felt we were not respected as customers .Poor organisation of sub contractors we waited at times weeks for work to progress. We paid extra for drains which are not completed ,and no guttering to drain to them ,we paid extra for loft space no loft hatch completed, we paid extra for a pocket door not completed . Bi folds were inserted opening the wrong way . David Morton built off plan without our agreement or consultation with the architect and invoiced us for this as an extra .this became a stalemate situation and he refused to progress with our build unless we paid for this un-agreed amendment . No guarantees or warranties given for Velux windows ,bi-folds or windows despite several request. Damage to our property and neighbours property and our car ,these have not been repaired despite requests made . Building materials left on our property after ending our agreement now for a month and not removed despite numerous requests . I’m sorry to say I would not recommend this company .David Morton is obviously very busy with numerous projects .But we were not a priority or a valued customer . If you would like something completed as agreed in a professional way in a timely manner ,I feel i could not recommend this company .

I'm sorry that this is how you feel and that our working relationship had to end the way it did. I feel that it is only fair to answer each point made.
We were recommended by your architect, who you later said was incompetent because of issues you had with the design, which I explained to you at the beginning that these issues can arise.
I never tell any customer since Covid and subsequent supply issues that an extension like yours would be 14 weeks. I do however, say the guide used to be 12 to 14 weeks but at the moment it is not uncommon for them to go to 18 weeks.
A completion date could not be agreed as I explained to you several times, that because you were sourcing some of the works elsewhere, I could not be bound by other peoples lead times.
The extras you say you paid for and were not completed;
1: Drains that were charged as extra at 5% above cost were the re routing of drains below ground as specified by the building inspector and drainage to your kitchen island area that were never actually on the drawings. The gulley in the picture is complete and awaiting whatever patio etc you decide you want.
2: The loft you paid for was completed and charged for at cost.
3: The pocket door you paid for at the cost of supply. The framework however, was fitted and not paid for, these systems are then completed after plastering.
4: The built off plan part was that the roof would not work as designed, which I did explain to you several times. We altered the roof to suit, which meant structural changes, opening up and re cladding your Dorma, forming a flat roof area that wasn't visible from below, removing and re fitting of bedroom window and special low pitch roof tiles which were not in the original spec. Special low pitch roof light (not standard), all material and labour charged at 5% above cost.
You are right when you say that this situation became a stalemate when you informed me that you would not pay for the extra works to the roof and that the architect or the structural engineer should pay for it. All the works, without exception, were inspected and passed by building control.
The damage to your car was unfortunately caused accidentally by one of my contractors whilst erecting necessary safety equipment and who, by your own admission, when you told me about it weeks later, he had offered several times to pay for any repairs was told you really were not bothered about.
You also made it very clear to me that you had every intention of not paying the full and final bill and you would not sign a mutual contract committing both of us to satisfactory completion and payment. I also said that I was more than willing to let you use one of my trade accounts to purchase your kitchen (without profit to myself) at cost in an attempt to help you with your budget. I don't feel these are the actions of an unreasonable person.
I stand by the many customer reviews and the fact that we have been awarded winner for Customer Service by Houzz 2016, 17, 18, 19, and 21.

David and his team did an outstanding job building a cupboard to match in with our French Renaissance style apartment. Very skilful, professional craftsmen. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a specialist Joinery project carried out.

David and his colleagues delivered to an exacting schedule within almost two weeks at very short notice to conduct emergency repairs and ensure my child started school on time. All work done exceptional by exceptional people.

David has done a fantastic job in my kitchen, he took all the tiles off my kitchen walls, plastered my walls and ceiling. Put new work tops on, re-tiled, put a new radiator on, skirting boards, and painted my kitchen he cleaned up every night, he has transformed my kitchen, it looks amazing, David is a true tradesman, a professional, would highly recommend him

David has supplied and fitted a dado rail to our hallway, removed and replaced two radiators and replaced two upstairs windows. No fault whatsoever with his work. David is efficient and friendly and I'd have no hesitation in using his services again - I would highly recommend him.

My first remodelling project with David was the hallway. Loved his work, attention to detail, and easy going nature. He listened to what I wanted, and put my vision into reality. Nothing was too much trouble, and he did a superb job. So much so, that I immediately asked him to remodel my kitchen. I totally love it, he is a great craftsman and due to being in a old cottage, he ensured everything fitted perfectly. Something I could never achieve with off the shelf kitchen. A truly dedicated professional who I would recommend to anyone. Special mention also to Mark.

David professionally created both a practical and a beautiful kitchen for me. He listened to my ideas and sensitively suggested alternative ones too, thus ensuring a fantastic end result. Nothing has been too much trouble for David. He goes the extra mile, stays late to make sure you are not stuck, answers calls straight away and keeps you in the loop at all times. He is totally trustworthy and honest. He has vision and a wealth of experience, enabling you to feel confident with his work. I found David easy to work with. He was able to work professionally with other people that I hired at the same time. I have no hesitation in recommending David as a lovely person to have in your home and as a true professional and craftsman. I am so pleased with my fabulous kitchen.
