I looked all over for someone to do custom drapes. I found a lot of people who would do them for me but I didn't know what I wanted. The good thing about Julie is that she is really creative and she helped me figure out what to do to create the right ambience. She ended up combining two totally different fabrics to create exactly what I was wanting. I love my drapes so much sometimes I just sit there and look at them.

Julie was delightful to work with; she was responsive to questions and provided feedback continuously. She came to our home with recommendations to rearrange current furnishings for better look/flow and paint recommendations. Julie also brought over a variety of fabrics with drapery recommendations during the evening hours to accommodate our busy work schedules. She never appeared to be in a hurry and spend the time needed with my husband and I. The changes she recommended made our house feels more like a home. Julie has a naturally creative and artistic core that allows her to create from scratch or to take those items you cherish, and incorporate them into a grand, new design. Her talent does not lie in just one area of design. Just tell her how formal or casual you'd like it to be, the look or feeling you want to achieve, and she can build from that. She will focus on all the individual details, and then incorporate all those separate and varied pieces into a beautiful and cohesive "whole".

Julie has been involved with my home in Rancho Murieta for several years now. When we moved in it just didn't feel like home. Everything was very white & plain, almost sterile. We don't have a ton of money so we have decided to do a room each year and thanks to Julie it has finally become home to us. I've seen several houses in our community (Rancho Murieta/Sloughouse area) that she's done and each job/house looks totally different. Often times, designers tend to put their preferences and stylistic choices into their work. Julie however, helps you find yours. She can guide you and provide a wealth of ideas that will change the way you view your home. She does't push or rush you in your decisions. She always keeps you on budget while insuring you're satisfied. She has also been a great resource for other contractor references. I've found It's much better to go with her opinion than the phone book. As for her personality Julie is very professional yet easy going. You never feel like you are on the clock and she is incredibly flexible with her time. If we email or text her she responds promptly and always has an update. She is kind and warm and full of creative ideas. As I said, I've been in other homes she's done work on and each family has been happy with her work. Sometimes it's just a room with a few touches to spice things up whereas others it's a complete remodel. I've seen extravagant jobs that belong in Sunset Magazine and others (like mine) that feel warm and cozy yet still in style. In each case the owner/family was more than happy with her work. In closing, I highly recommend Julie for any of your design needs.

Needed expert consultation on colors for walls and new chairs and carpet for the family room. Julie honed in on our personalities and style, and produced suggestions that we followed and which have resulted in many compliments. I would definitely use her again.

I contacted Julie to help me with a whole-house remodel. It was such a massive undertaking for us that I knew I would need professional help to accomplish our goals. I had many ideas about the look that I wanted. When my husband and I first met with Julie she listened to all our ideas and never once made us feel that those ideas didn't have value and were worth considering. I have used Julie Doran as my design professional for many years now. She helped me update my living room and family room and recently re-designed my master bath. Julie has a beautiful eye for color and an uncanny ability to understand my tastes and work with them (unlike many designers who impose their tastes upon you). Most recently she completely re-designed my 1980's "rabbit warren" master bath and the result was astonishing. It was torn down to the studs and completely re-built into the most lovely and well-functioning space imaginable. Julie remains in constant contact during a project and has always worked within my budget. I am planning to use her again for my next project.
