A&J Fireplaces

There were few promises that were kept. This was to be a few weeks and turned out to be 3 months!! They must be constantly supervised or else they make mistakes and are sloppy. They are NOT truthful . When they tried to install the cabinets that sourrounded the firplace they had no idea how to make them fit nor how to do the finished carpentry. Fortunately I held back enough money that I hired a carpenter to finish their very slppy substandard job and deducted it for the balance I owed them. Note the small print on their contract. It says that the home owner is responsible for all measurements. They more incorrectly and do not seem to know how to use a level!. There were problems with eveything from the electrical which they moved, to the cabinets to the flashing on the chimney. Note: The fireplace itself does seem fine but I know that should there be a problem in the future, I would not count on them for service.

Let me start by saying I do not like to give bad reviews. But .... Terrible service. Broke promise after promise after promise. No-show multiple times without notice. I had to call and call. What was promised to be a few days turn-around turned into weeks. All of this was after they required and took prepayment. (I would have walked away but for that prepayment of over $700.) After their reprehensible service, they wouldn't agree to a small credit for the bad experience. I would never use them again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They were the worst experience of my life. I hired them to do a gas fireplace insert installation and once they got most of my money, they did not care about my job anymore. I prepaid (July 2015) for the fireplace 2 months before the installation (Sept 2015). They had to come back three times for the gas line installation since they could not pass inspection, owner John did the electrical work himself when it was to be a certified electrician (failed inspections until they finally hired an electrician). To make matters worse, they were not really for the installation by the agree upon week of installation. They kept giving excuses as to why the gas insert was not in yet (after prepaying 2 months before installation). When they did the installation, they did not do the co-liner vent installation to code or manufactures installation directions . The exhaust vent was only 3 ft and was venting into my chimney, the fresh air intake did not go all the way up to chimney and was just lying in the chimney. They did not use the correct co-liner vent cap with both vents secured to the vent cap. Luckily due to warm weather I was not using the fireplace yet and if the chimney cap did not fall off of my chimney a few days after installation I would use the fireplace and possible had tonic gas coming into my house. Stay away from this company.

Juan did a fantastic job. Well beyond my highest expectations. Every aspect of the project was handled in the utmost professional way. This includes selection, pricing, delivery through installation. A & J personifys the word "service". I strongly recommend to anyone at all interested in any form of firep[-lace, insterts or stoves check out A & J before making a final decission.
