I recently worked with a Design/Build group in town and found myself 5-6 months committed and tens of thousands of dollars worth of expenses to find out the designer had designed a project approximately ~50% above my max budget. As such I couldn't get financing. I was referred to Dan at ModHaus (from another well known GC) and Dan took the time to understand the challenging spot I was in. I asked him if my design had any way to be built inside my max budget. He studied what had been designed and said it's likely impossible. Dan could have told me the opposite just to get my business, but he shot me straight and did it for free without anything in return. It's honesty and integrity like this I now look for as my #1 characteristic trait in the real estate/construction business.
