Los Altos Landscape Co did a fabulous job landscaping our yard from the woodwork, hard scape, irrigation, to the outdoor lighting, water feature and plant installation. It was a multistage process with a few challenges along the way. For example, when there was flooding caused by winter storms, the team responded quickly by adding storm drains. They transformed an enclosed space with an old lawn by opening it up to highlight views and planting a lovely selection of drought tolerant plants. We are using the space daily and are very pleased with the results.

What sets Los Altos Landscaping apart is their sheer pragmatism, creativity and willingness to solve conundrums as they appear. This aside, you genuinely get the impression Craig and his team love what they do. The results for us are transformative - turning a dark, bleak and impractical space into an expansive two-zoned water-wise garden we can enjoy year round. Full front yard redesign removing an overgrown privet hedge and replacing grass with kurapia and other drought resistant plants. The project included new hardscape, a white picket fence and landscape lightning. In the backyard we removed overgrown and dead plants and added succulents. It was a pleasure working with Greg and Christine, they were very knowledgeable and present during the entire project.

We've hired Los Altos Landscaping Co for several jobs over the past two years, and they've always done outstanding work. The largest job they did for us was to take out an old dying olive tree and the old cement patio damaged by the tree roots over the years, replacing the patio with a lovely new patio made out of paving stone. It looks amazing! They also tilled and prepared two areas in our back yard, planted several plants and mulched the area so it looks great. Most recently, they extended a sidewalk for us in the back yard connecting up to our shed. I highly recommend Los Altos Landscaping for all your landscaping needs.

My landscape designer recommended Los Altos Landscaping Company with very good reason. They completely re-landscaped our front yard, trenched and laid conduit for upgraded electrical service, and also did considerable work in the back. Craig provided a detailed quote for both landscape and hardscape items and was very flexible about additions and subtractions as the project progressed. Craig and Christine were also very helpful with design and material suggestions. I started this project in late 2020 at a time when everyone was doing home improvement projects so it took some months to get started and that was reasonable. He and his team are extremely competent, considerate, fair and hard working. I’ve been extremely pleased.

Craig and his team did great work for us. We had challenging drainage issues - small but significant amounts of water seeping under our foundation. He personally took the time to walk through the area with me and to discuss the issues and options. His ideas were good and his pricing was fair - he gave us an hourly rate up front and billed very transparently based on that. We chose to build some French drains and to tie our downspouts in to them based on his advice. I'm very impressed with the quality of the work that was done. Craig's crew jackhammered through rocks to dig trenches, but also took the time to wash the mud away from their work areas and coil the hoses that they had used. Their work on the downspouts was very precise and clean. I won't hesitate to hire Los Altos Landscaping again.

We asked for a bid to replace the grass in the backyard that needed a lot of attention. Part of the yard was so shaded by an oak that only moss would survive. The existing edging wandered and was not properly set. Ugly, but we had grown used to it. The completed project exceeded my expectations by far, and with the revamped and repaired edging that I did not expect, the whole back yard is a joy to see. Craig's team is very friendly and helpful, and very professional. They did more than the contract called for, at no extra charge. The project was complete in less than a week! I had expected, like most contractor projects, to be ready for stop...start..stop..start...wait for a missing part, etc. But No! All done with no delays. The only slow step was that Craig had to be reminded to send the bill! I'll take that delay anytime! His price was very competitive, and LALC was a real pleasure to work with. Please include them in your plans. And you will thank me, I'm sure.

Craig and his team are excellent. He collaborated with a designer, Amy Mears, and transformed our back, front, and side yards from dirt patches into an oasis. It was a complex job that included installation of two ipe decks, a stone wall, an automatic driveway gate, irrigation, lighting, fencing, artificial turf, a fire pit with a gas line, and tons of plants. Everything Craig's team did was high quality. They are incredibly collaborative, professional, and client oriented. I had lots of opinions and preferences about plants, layout, etc. and Craig always incorporated them into the plans. He also went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with everything. When the job was finished and we had trouble finding a maintenance team he even had his guys clean up our yard free of charge several times and helped us find long term help. We are incredibly happy with our new yard and it's made our new house feel like home. I've worked with several landscapers before and Craig's team is by far the best I know. I can't recommend him enough!

Craig and his crew did a great job re-setting a rock wall, installing new drip lines, planting new plants, and making a section of our front yard look amazing! We also had them install decomposed granite for a back yard storage area so that it would be easier to keep weed free and look clean. Again, a job well done. Craig is responsive and easy to work with. He even went out of his way to take us to previous jobs to show us what decomposed granite would look like once installed. We had Craig Phelps and his team do a project that included changing the shape of the existing lawn, expanding and adding some planting beds, adjusting the irrigation and putting in a new paver patio with brick border, grading the area for the patio, pouring concrete for column bases for an outdoor pavilion, laying the conduit for the electrical running to the pavilion site and for a couple of remote electrical outlets in two planting areas around the new patio, planting of the plants in the new planting beds, installing posts as a frame for a metal screen along an unsightly fence line and connecting a couple of downspouts to newly installed catch basins. The biggest challenge with Craig is getting on his schedule, but he and his crew are worth the wait! He is professional and practical, very detail-oriented and his pricing is reasonable. His crew shows up every day by 8:00 am, work until dark and they clean-up at the end of each day. Craig checks on the progress of the job every day and is available for questions as needed. He really pays attention to the details and was happy to work with us to come up with solutions to implement our ideas. We're so pleased with how the project turned out. We can't recommend Craig and the crew at Los Altos Landscaping Company highly enough.

Craig is very professional and walked the property with me to understand my project. Craig and his team came in and completed the job quickly and left everything clean and looking great. I was adding a concrete walkway in the backyard and changing some irrigation. I also. Added drip system around the perimeter on a new valve. On the side yard I added compacted decomposed granite walkway. I would definitely work with Los Altos Landscaping again!

We hired Los Altos Landscaping to do our front yard. This included removing dead trees, new footpath, new lawn, new irrigation and new plants and trees. The end result is amazing and we have had multiple compliments a day for the last two weeks from people walking by. We have worked with a lot of contractors is the past and this is the first time we have had no issues. For example we noticed part of the stone work had a crack but you really couldn't see it however Craig the owner said "No we need to fix that". Every time we had a question he listened and answered clearly in a way that was supportive of our needs rather than trying to influence us to his way. In summary we found Craig to be very honest and we believe that is why we had no issues, arguments, up-selling etc. His team were very professional, respectful and a really good bunch of guys. Have to mention Craig was recommended to us by the landscape designer we used who was Lois Miller. The two of them worked very well together which made it so much easier for us. We will be hiring them again very soon.

New sprinkler system to support the sodding of our front yard. Worked swiftly, done in one and 1/2 days, the team was helpful and responsive. Follow up when requested was prompt and like a friend returning for a visit. I have recommended them to neighbors with out reservation.

I received several estimates for a small paver project in my front yard. Craig's estimate was very competitive but it was detailed and spelled out every aspect of the job. His crew completed the job in a little over two weeks (the wait was for the pavers to arrive. The actual work took two days). The crew was extremely professional, considerate and responsive. They cleaned everything up when they left and even replaced bricks in my neighbor's yard. I am very happy with the result. It looks wonderful!

Los Altos Landscaping did an excellent job landscaping our front corner lot. A large grass area was removed and replaced with terraced dry landscape. Craig Phelps supervised the work along with Chris who helped us pick out plants that are drought resistant. The work crew was very respectful, worked fast and cleaned up well after each day's work. We are very satisfied with the result and have received many compliments on the new look.

30 years ago Craig and his team did a fabulous, full landscape of our half acre newly purchased property, working meticulously off of our landscape architect’s plans. He did exactly what we wanted, including advising and implementing some creative and practical additions to the plan. Last year we had them back to do a major update on our entire front yard. Earlier this month a major pipe in the sprinkler system was broken by a tree root. Craig had his guys out the day I called and completely repaired it in two days. In all cases they were prompt, courteous and kept every commitment they made. They were extremely thoughtful and neat in everything they did. We landscaped again after the drought did it damage. New artiffical lawn, new DG paths and new planting. They reconfigured the sprinkler system to all drip. This picture is one year later and things look really good.
