Cornerstone Landscapes is a locally owned and operated Santa Barbara-based construction company. We specialize in all phases of landscaping including consultation and planning, landscape design and construction. We serve the greater Santa Barbara area including Goleta, Montecito and Carpinteria. Our Mission is to enhance the lives of our customers by fostering greater enjoyment of the natural world at their own properties and homes. Our landscapes grow more attractive over time, increase property values, contribute to Santa Barbara’s rich architectural legacy and model environmental stewardship by benefiting the natural ecology. Gregory Hyman has spent the last 16 years in the California landscape contracting business. Customers benefit from Mr. Hyman’s extensive knowledge of the construction process, his passion for composition and design and his hands-on approach. Cornerstone Landscapes has our highest recommendation. They constructed an extensive remodel of our townhouse yard, including removal of an old deck, installation of a slab and slate multi-sized tiles, composite deck, gate, fountain, hedge, border planting, and irrigation. The work is absolutely beautiful and exactly what we had hoped for. Gregory, Diego and crew are true artists! Much of the work was completed while we were out of town and we were able to trust them to perform at the highest level and communicate their progress. The inevitable modifications were handled promptly and fairly in our opinion. Although there were some scheduling delays to start the project, it was certainly worth the wait.

This was a job with topographical constraints which alluded us for 5 years. Greg and his crew designed a floor and elevation plan that combined an outdoor patio/BBQ area, fire pit, cactus garden, and raised veggie garden area all on a sloping terrain. I had an idea of what I wanted and Greg perfected it. This was not an easy job but the results were outstanding-our neighbors are very impressed! Thanks Greg and your team!! George Z.

We are so pleased with our dream-come-true-landscape project. Originally anticipating merely replacing a concrete patio with brick in our small backyard, Gregory and his team at Cornerstone Landscapes helped us to create a backyard oasis. Listening to our desire for layering plants and more privacy, Gregory was great at understanding our ideas and what was important to us. His hardscape and plant design input took us from a basic back yard to an area with outdoor dining, BBQ area, gathering and gardening – working with Gregory and crew was collaborative in the best of ways. The entire team at Cornerstone are wonderful to work with – friendly, professional, always on time and they maintained a clean and tidy workspace. Gregory was easy to contact and consistently available either via text, call or onsite to answer questions before, during and after the project. Although our project was modest in scale, we got the best of Gregory and his team and we highly recommend Cornerstone Landscape.

Gregory and his team were consummate pros. Clear communication, quick responses, and took the time to explain each step in the process. We got multiple bids for our project but Cornerstone's was a) the lowest and b) more flexible, with Gregory explaining where we could spend / save money if we wanted to. He was clearly trying to meet our needs, not oversell us on extras that we didn't need. Throughout the project, Gregory communicated when they expected to be on site or not to ensure it worked for us. They completed it on time and we're loving our new firepit. Looks great! We'd hire them again in an instant next time we have a major landscaping / backyard project.

Gregory and his team (Hi Diego!!) did a great job on our extensive backyard redo. They are a one stop shop having done everything from demo to completion. They installed beautiful flagstone patios, retaining rock walls, utilities, an outdoor kitchen, plantings and irrigation for us. They were very responsive to our concerns, and flexible with changes. We love our new outdoor living space. Would highly recommend!

Cornerstone Landscapes ( Gregory and Team) did a beautiful and extensive job in our back yard. It included retaining walls, faux stone concrete work, custom fencing, plantings, french drains and a lawn. He had to work with the city for approvals along with a landscape architect. You can trust him, and that’s a huge plus.

Gregory is one of the most all around professional, knowledgeable, pleasant and thorough contractors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He know his business, he has great suggestions, he quotes on point, he is always available, he always helpful and pleasant. I could not recommend him more highly. Working with him resulted in a better than expected outcome. He has a very good crew working with him. The only negative is that i had to send him home sometimes as he is so dedicated ! Alright a positive !

Two years ago, we wanted to do our part to reduce our water needs. Greg and his team were able to change our landscaping quite dramatically. Older, fading plants were replaced and many interesting new plants took their places. The overal impact has been a much more attractive look and substantially reduced water usage. So, a big success.

Actual Art Landscape Design

As a Landscape Designer in Santa Barbara, CA, I've worked together with Gregory on several jobs. I am very happy with our business relationship, as he is the most capable Contractor I know. He is very respectful towards my wishes as a designer, he quotes every job with precision, he adapts to changing situations, his crew is skilled and well organized.
