Colorado Geothermal Drilling

Dan Rau was wonderful to work with. We have a lot on a cul-du-sac, so other drillers identified that it would be impossible or that we would need to remove trees to get the necessary equipment in the backyard. Dan was able to work with the difficult conditions and all my trees are alive 4 months later. We also live immediately adjacent to a regulated body of water and we had no environmental issues (they placed water tanks adjacent to the driveway so there was no issue). Their team did a good job with coordinating with Town of Parker inspections and we are very happy with their installation and communication. We quoted multiple HVAC contractors and each of the groups that had done residential size geothermal units within Colorado said their favorite contractor to work with was Dan with Colorado Geothermal Drilling. - Our system is a 4 ton, 3 well with each 300' deep with trench to our basement and system within our basement.

Starting in 2010 I built a 10,000 square foot house in North Easter Boulder County, CO which was completed in Oct 2012. I was required by the county to build to a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) of 10. To achieve this we used passive solar, active solar, LED lighting, heavy insulation and geothermal. Dan Rau's company Colorado Geothermal drilled and plumbed the 7x 300' wells. There are four geothermal heat pumps which heat and cool four zones in the house. We had only minor issues until Nov 2016 when we found that the house was not heating sufficiently, and we were staying very cold. I paid the HVAC contractor visit the house twice, he (incorrectly) concluded that the wells were incorrectly sized and were freezing. Being a little uncertain of this, I spoke with another HVAC contractor who put me in touch with Dan (again) in Feb 2017. Dan came over and found that the HVAC system was low on water. He proceed to top it off with water and immediately warmth was restored to our home. When I asked him for the bill, he insisted that he would not charge me, which was great. Over the subsequent 10 months I monitored the water pressure of the well system. It would gradually drop off and I would add water about once a month. Ultimately I called Dan back and we concluded that the system must have a leak. I looked at all of the Geothermal units and found one with a slow leak from one of the hose fittings which had been installed by original HVAC contractor. It had been leaking slowly since installation. Once again, at no charge to me, Dan came to my house and replaced the hose and repaired the leak. Now the pressure stays constant, the house is warm and my family is happy. I highly recommend Dan and Colorado Geothermal Drilling. His company does very high quality work, and he stands behind it AND the work of others. He is personally committed to delivering long term success to his customers.

We have had a great experience both with Dan Rau and the system itself. Our house is all electric due to utility logistics and when we purchased it the heating and cooling system no longer worked. Dan and his crew drilled our holes and installed the pump units very efficiently and professionally. He recommended a heating and cooling contractor to run ducting, etc. who was also great to work with. We have had the system now for 4 years. It operates well and even in house with poor insulation our bills are very reasonable and the system is comfortable. I am also giving Colorado Geothermal a 6th star because a few months ago I noticed the pressure in the system had dropped and Dan came right out and found the problem, fixed it and left with no charge. Awesome.

I was fortunate to find Dan Rau to install my loop for my geothermal system. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient. If I have questions or issues, he is prompt in his response and service.

Geothermal system installed by Dan in 2009. He helped prevent major installation problems by the HVAC company. My system has been flawless for more than 7 years now and he was less than 1/2 the cost of the second bid. You can't get any better.
