Chris Nguyen of Ethan Allen - Rockville

We purchased the furniture for our first house from Ethan Allen in 2022, and I'm leaving this review to say how happy we are that we worked with Chris Nguyen back then (although my husband had happily worked with him previously for his condo also). From the beginning, Chris was so helpful and patient as he guided us through the design process. We wanted a classic look with pops of color and a slight modern edge, and Chris was excellent at making that come to life. He even helped us track down a back-ordered fabric that we really wanted, and we are so happy that made the extra effort to do so--our home is exactly as we want it. Fast forward 1.5 years, and we had a warranty issue with one of our items. Once again, Chris was responsive and helpful, and he went above and beyond in helping us to resolve our issue. We feel so lucky to have worked with him and can't recommend him enough!

Chris was amazing to work with! His design and creative skills helped us achieve the living room of our dreams! From the custom curtains all the way to the lamps in my living room his design ideas and suggestions worked perfectly in our home!

We very much enjoyed working with Chris. Not only is he a talented decorator but also a very good listener and thoughtful person. We were looking to update/refresh our family room- not a total makeover. He understood this and was able to successfully incorporate some of the furniture and accessories we had. and present them in a new way. There was never any pressure to buy. We did purchase a sofa, 2 chairs, and accessories and we are very pleased with our new look. Chris was always available to discuss the project and a pleasure to work with. My husband and I used Chris’ expertise to reimagine our dining room. He nailed it! We knew we wanted color, texture, and variety and he more than met the challenge. We weren’t sure we’d find a designer who could see differently from today’s monochromatic palate. Chris provided exactly the pop of color we were craving. We’re having him come back to reimagine our living room!

My wife and I recently moved to Frederick Maryland and purchased an historic home. We needed professional design advice on marrying our existing furnishings with new art, rugs and furniture, while being true to the historic interior of the home. Chris managed this beautifully mixing design elements and styles that pulled all of interior furnishings old and new together with the historic interior of the home in a way we love. Chris is awesome! He is friendly and kind to work with. He was also responsive via email with questions we had while waiting for furniture items to arrive (this was important to us because we live in NY and had met Chris while visiting Maryland). My husband and I have a very open concept house with some unique spaces that we were struggling to design. Chris had a vision for us right away, and was able to digitally show us what the rooms potential could be. We loved his ideas and our newly designed living area has since been completed! Chris is a true gem! He is an incredibly talented designer and a wonderful person. He is laid back, listens to you, doesn't push and makes the design experience as stress free as it can be. Chris helped me not only pick out a new couch, ottoman and pillows that met all of my family's requirements but he helped me create the whole room. He listened to what I liked, what I was looking for, what my family wanted and picked out fabrics that were perfect. They weren't ones I would have picked myself but in the end they were exactly what I wanted. He made the picking easy providing me just three choices and then we could make revisions from there. I wasn't overwhelmed and I'm thrilled with the combinations. And once we picked fabric he also helped me pick my paint color another task I dread. He gave me two choices and I loved one of them...done! When it came time to pick carpet I brought the samples to him, I didn't want to make a decision without his input because I totally trust his opinion. I highly recommend Chris and will definitely use him again in the future.

We had an outstanding experience updating our living room furniture at Ethan Allen, using a mix of online review of the options and a visit to the showroom at the Rockville Pike, MD location. A big part of how excellent our experience was has to be credited to the support and advice of Christopher Nguyen, a designer in residence at that store. He answered all our questions explicitly, suggested valuable design tips, personally showed us the different models and fabrics we were interested in and produced a very useful simulation of how our living room would look like (see attached). He introduced some additions and variations on our original selections that led us to revisit some decisions for the better. All this in no time and with more kindness than we have experienced in a long time in any store. We grateful and highly recommend Chris as a designer.

We love our new living room We feel so lucky to have Chris as our designer He first took time in getting to know us and then worked his magic on pulling our LR together. He was very accessible to my many calls and my revisits to be sure that the the furniture and accessories we selected fit our personality. The colors and fabrics are awesome. Chris knocked it out of the park as far as we are concerned.
