Charles J Nafie Architecture + Design

I hired Mr. Nafie for an apartment design in NYC and was given a fee of $4,500. I paid Mr. Nafie an initial $2,000 then several weeks later received an email sent to a number of people asking for a $10,000 loan. Since he had a relationship with my husband I sent him the remainder of his fee in good faith. Mr. Nafie conducted two short site visits, and provided two conceptual sketches. Then turned around and stated he spent 51 hours on my project and the fee was $9300. We never received any final design or drawings and the project was far from completed. I would not recommend Mr. Nafie for any work of any kind.

Mr. Nafie and his team of architects and interior designers have now completed two sensational projects for me and my family. A dedicated team immediately converged on my space, an independent tutorial space and my families three BR apartment. Each project developed a series of design options after completing a thorough analysis of the existing spaces. Mr. Nafie talked with me to develop a written program which we changed as the design was nurtured. In the end both projects were successfully completed and in my mind due to the interaction of his staff of designers.

Architect Charles Nafie completely gutted and redesigned the family penthouse duplex overlooking Fifth Avenue and Central Park. He was able to deal rapidly with the Landmarks Authorities to create huge panoramic windows. He broke through walls to create new open spaces,installed a glass and steel spiral staircase, and even added an external air conditioning system on the wrap around terrace! Based on initial computer generated images, the redesign was inspired. But I suggest the client oversee with extreme care all proposals and invoices from all sub-contractors in order to carry out the architectural vision within initial cost and time frame guidelines. The final outcome was well worth the effort. But in a city like New York, no matter how brilliant the architect, the client must pay close and direct attention to the subcontractors.
