We contacted Charles after having our home painted and limewashed a few days earlier (siding painted, brick limewashed). The limewash job was poorly done and not to our liking. We were scrambling and reached out to several other painters. Charles jumped on our case immediately, stressed how important it was to fix the job quickly because of the time sensitive nature of limewashing. We went with them and he immediately wrote us a professional letter to detail what went wrong with the previous painter's work, in case we ever needed it. As far as the work, they were on time, professional and easy to work with. Alex was the crew lead - he and his team did a great job reapplying the limewash and pulling it off to our preferences. He is one of the few in the trades that you can tell truly cares about doing a good job for the customer. They managed to get the job done in two days total (one day to powerwash the brick and clear it off as much as possible, second day repainting.) We are very happy we went with Charles and crew. It sucked that we had to do the painting again but they helped turn our frowns upside down.

We had a great experience with Charles Graves Painting. They are responsive, prompt, and the quality of the work is excellent. In addition to interior painting, they installed wall molding in my master bedroom, and it turned out great. In addition, they finished two floors of rooms with tall ceilings (including the molding installation) in less than 2 days, and with very dark paint colors. I would highly recommend them.

You guys are awesome, every step of the way you answered questions gave suggestions and made our dream become reality. It actually came out better than what I envisioned. I moved to Arlington, VA last month for work and bought a new home here. I loved the home but wall colors were not my style at all. I didn't know any companies in the area so I googled "Best Painting company near me" and Charles Graves Painting was the second company to pop up. I called the top 3, in order to get the estimates, first one - scheduled appoinment and no one showed up. My second estimate was Charles Graves Painting and my third gave me a price that was double the quote Charles gave me. I was impressed with the Charles presentation, he went over the process, what type of paint would be best to use and why and how little I had to do to prepare for the project. I really appreciated the time he took to go over everything and I even got to meet with a color consultant which made picking the colors a easy task. The crew came in and in 3 days they finish up, very nice guys, polite, hardworking. Emilio was a great manager, making sure I was happy, and everything looked good. I know have really high expectations when it comes to painting because this was such a easy process with them.

My husband and I were very happy with the completed bathroom remodel. Wilson, the crew leader was great at communicating with us and what we wanted for our bathrooms. Wow! We couldn't be happier with the work performed by Daniel and company with Charles Graves Painting. We were in the market to paint nearly our entire home and sought estimates from a few companies who appeared to do excellent work based on word of mouth/internet reviews. Charles and Ana came by the house to provide an estimate and answered all questions about their business, the type of paint they recommend for each surface, the process they use to paint cabinets, trim, etc. We went with Charles because not only did he offer us the best price, but more importantly, we felt confident that he would do an excellent job. Daniel was the project manager on our house. He arrived 8:00 am sharp on the day the project was scheduled to begin. I'm not sure how we got so lucky, but I would highly recommend that you ask for Daniel to work on your project if he's available. He is that rare combination of extremely nice and exceptionally talented. His attention to detail is second to none. Not a single brush stroke or drop of paint on the floor (we just had new floors put down and this was very important to us). We threw a few unexpected surprises at him during the project as well, including installing a new electric outlet that required us to patch drywall and paint, and he was more than happy to accommodate every request and make sure every corner of the house was completed to our satisfaction. The biggest project in our house was the basement. It involved painting the walls, ceiling, removing existing carpet, installing new laminate flooring and baseboards, and sanding and staining the stairs. This was a ALOT of work and Daniel's team was able to handle all of it in only a few (very long) days at an extremely competitive price. The five star review is a reflection of the phenomenal work Daniel and his team performed and the diligent, professional, and accommodating manner in which they performed it.

Charles Graves Contracting did an excellent job scraping, repairing, and painting an old historic house in a historic neighborhood with very high standards. The job required hand scraping the entire house to rid it of peeling and buckling old paint. This was tough to do because it is a very tall house with long eaves and 2 covered porches. Then Charles painted on a detailed 4-color-scheme paint job which was challenging because the house has a lot of windows and accentuated trim work. Charles was always able to make recommendations on the best products and paints to use for different situations. Lastly, Charles was willing to work in colder weather and under high pressure to finish the job quickly so that the house can go on the market. He succeeded in painting the house to the standards of the neighborhood and in time for it to hit the market without having to wait until spring time to finish the paint job.

I used Charles service for a drywall repair in our bathroom. The serviceman did a remarkable job fixing the wall and communicated with us every step of the way. He was meticulous and cleaned up well. I'll definitely be calling them back for bigger projects in the future.

When I called Charles Graves Painting and requested an estimate for interior painting of our home, they responded right away. The inspector came over initially to give a quote and was very nice. My wife and I recently moved into a new home in Maryland. We did a ton of research and had multiple painters come into our home to quote the job. Charles and Ana were the third of three estimates. After five minutes with Charles and Ana, we immediately knew we would not have any other company do this job. They drove a long way to visit with my wife and I, and offered advice and services (free interior decorator advisor) that no other painter did. They took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted and clearly explained how the process worked and how meticulous their crew is. As this paint job was part of a larger remodeling effort, we had a lot of questions about the best paint to use, color, timing (carpet or paint first?), and a lot of specific instruction about how we wanted the job to be done. Other painters didn’t take the time to listen and work with us like Charles. With other contractors you will find them eager to get in, measure, and get out and will have strong opinions about the paint they want to use (because of course they’re getting a deep discount for brand loyalty) without listening to your ideas and preferences. Going with Charles and Ana was the best decision we made. So happy we listened to our gut as well as online reviews and didn’t just settle. Thank you, and we highly recommend!

I recently hired Charles Graves Painting to paint the majority of the second floor of our house. The process from start to finish was easy and Charles was accessible to answer questions throughout. Initially left a message when requesting a quote for service and Charles called me back within an hour. He scheduled a time to meet me later that evening and showed promptly at the agreed upon time. The price that he quoted was very reasonable for the work were asking his company to perform. Charles also gave excellent advice on the type of paint and the sheen for each room. We hired him and scheduled a day for work to begin. A crew of three guys showed at my house on the proper date and time. They were very courteous and professional. The lead went through each of the color choices with me prior to purchasing the paint and then again prior to starting the actual painting. The crew did a great job fixing imperfections in the walls and made quick but detailed progress painting the rooms. They were very open to fixing any touch-ups that we found throughout the process. We decided that the one color we chose did not look right and Charles had the crew repaint the room in a different color at no additional cost. The job was scheduled for 3 days but took 4 due to our change of color. I would hire Charles Graves Painting again just because they were so customer-service oriented but it doesn't hurt that they also do tremendous work.

We were referred to Charles by a friend over a year ago when we were contemplating painting our entire townhouse. Charles' crew did the job quickly, professionally and at a reasonable price point - not to mention we continue to get compliments on their great work. Earlier this summer when we were looking to update our master bath and powder room, we again contacted Charles and were impressed by his portfolio and pricing. I have never been involved in a home project like this before so it was a bit of a learning experience in terms of everything we needed to purchase and the timing of said purchases so that the crew could stay on schedule. At the end everything came out better than expected and again Charles' crew worked quickly and did an amazing job. The only hiccups we had with some pieces we had ordered were either delayed or arrived late but the crew was very patient with us and helped us get everything we needed. We also had to pull in a glass company for the shower but I think that is pretty standard. Overall I would strongly recommend Charles' team for any bathroom updating and we are already considering updating our other bathroom to put it in par with the others. STRONG RECOMMEND - especially for the price. I'd also recommend working with/ hiring a designer to help you get the look you want and help you know what you need to purchase (especially if you don't have this experience).

We contacted Charles in the fall of 2017 in regards to exterior painting/staining of our 3,000+ square foot, cedar shingle home in Lusby, MD. Charles arranged an initial consultation with us at our home within 48 hours. At that meeting, we received a thorough cost and time estimate and contract before he departed. The work was scheduled within a week and completed in less than three days. Charles demonstrates extensive knowledge of the science within the paint, products and application. He is a true professional whose main goal is to ensure the customer is not only knowledgeable about his trade but happy with the end results. The crew was prompt, professional, and courteous and completed the job with skilled workmanship. The site was kept very clean and all exterior landscaping and windows were well protected. I called Charles Graves Painting because we needed a medium sized painting project done on short notice. At first, Charles said they couldn't do it, because they were all booked for this week. I pleaded, and mentioned that part of the painting was for my mom, as I really wanted to surprise her with her favorite color for her new bedroom as she is coming to stay with us. In all my years, I have never seen the head of a business himself come out and take care of a project, yet that's exactly what he did. It's refreshing to see that he doesn't just manage, he also knows what he's doing. It's even more refreshing to see a man of character. I called Charles when we really needed him, and even though my budget was tight, he went out of his way to help us. I could tell that he didn't need the money. But he worked hard, stayed late to get it done, did a thorough job, and it looks remarkable. I even had him stay over for dinner with family, because he really hadn't eaten much all day.

Very glad we went with this painter! A close friend recommended Charles to us since we needed our entire downstairs completed in a quick time frame as we are having family up this weekend for the holidays.
