My husband and I have worked with Carl on two home projects. One was the renovation of a split hall American colonial revival style home of approximately 4,500 SQFT built in the 1980s and the second, a 3,500 SQFT custom new build Spanish colonial revival reminiscent of the 1920s. The homes were very different projects and while we wanted to honor the architecture of each, we also wanted them to feel like us. Carl quickly understood and easily incorporated our unique style into both homes while keeping his design true to the homes’ period roots. For the first home, we were on a strict budget and we renovated four rooms with Carl’s guidance and expertise. For the second home, 15 years later, we had a more generous budget and it was a whole home design except for the bathrooms and kitchen design which had been completed before Carl came aboard. In both projects, Carl was respectful of our budget and guided us to design choices that matched both our taste and the bottom line. His hallmark is the use of color and composition, integrating new and existing artwork, vintage and antique furnishings with new pieces. He blends period details with a modern flair. He introduces texture in both subtle and bold ways creating unexpected, beautiful and peaceful spaces. We have enjoyed working with Carl and we recommend him for any home project, large or small.

Carl was a pleasure to work with from my initial contact about my project all the way through completion. His communication is excellent, he was constantly professional and efficient with time, yet friendly and accommodating to changes along the way. My project involved designing a transitional look to modernize several rooms of my older home without the result looking out of place or jarringly different than the remaining rooms. His knowledge of materials, finishes, fixtures, and other elements, as well as where to source them all was quite vast and extremely helpful through the design process and during construction when problems stemming from supply chain instability arose. He sometimes persuaded me out of my comfort zone, but in every instance, the result was something I ended up really liking. I highly recommend him to anyone, including friends and family.

Carl has a special talent for designing homes and spaces. It is truly amazing to hear him talk about what he is seeing during the design phase and then watch it all unfold as it comes to be. Many things come to mind of why Carl is so amazing. He made my home remodel approachable. I have zero experience doing something like this. Carl would research things, get them down to two to four choices, and then we would go through them. This made it so much more enjoyable to make this home "me" but also not be overwhelmed with thousands of choices for the hundreds of decisions that must be made when doing a bathroom and kitchen remodel. The other big thing that makes Carl awesome is how detailed he is. And Carl is on-site during construction working with the contractor. I believe this separates Carl from other designers. Problems come up and he is there to make decisions with the contractor to make sure it looks right. Another big thing that I was not aware of going into this - discounts! Carl has so many connections with vendors and suppliers where he receives discounts for his clients. Not sure if I'm supposed to publicize this or not. All of those discounts added up to thousands of dollars in savings for me. I love my remodeled home! Thank you Carl for your talent, knowledge and professionalism!

Carl is a master of color. His choices don't always dazzle when you look at swatches and samples but when the job is done his choices are absolutely perfect. Don't try to choose your own colors if you aren't a pro. Trust Carl and you will get a tasteful and sophisticated result. We gave Carl a free hand to design our entry doors. His design is not something we could have imagined but it is perfect for our house and we have received many complements. Ready-made doors are nearly as expensive as what we have but a custom design is so much better than something you see everywhere that doesn't quite suit your house. Highly recommended!

Carl was recommended to us by a previous general contractor. He designed the complete remodel of 5 bedrooms + 3 baths. Carl in turn recommended the general contractor that we used. Communication was prompt and Carl kept in frequent contact with the construction contractor. Coordination of color palettes (e.g. paint, window coverings, carpet), tile design, and fixtures was top notch. Carl made some great suggestions that we would not have considered, e.g. accordion closet doors, top+bottom opening bathroom window coverings. He was always cost conscious and often provided multiple options to choose from. Would definitely recommend to others 10/10.

Hands down best design team I’ve worked with. What started out as a kitchen and bath remodel, quickly became a whole house remodel down to the studs. Crawford Pallini flexed quickly and helped me envision what a sacred space my home could become. I was working in a fast-paced corporate job at the time with an intense global travel schedule. They were able to work with me on tight timelines and plan out future phases in the few windows of time I had. Both Carl and Rachel also flexed once again when I got married. They astutely helped my partner feel included and helped us mesh our styles in a way that is a perfect blend! Designing the aesthetic of your home is so much more than the materials. Carl and Rachel were able to capture our essence and our home is our sanctuary. Kitchen remodel

I highly recommend these talented designers. They first take the time to listen to what you want out of the project and then elevate those ideas to another level. They are very knowledgeable about current and upcoming trends, but they don’t just duplicate what you’d find in design magazines. They are able to create something truly unique and awe inspiring. Most importantly, they are creative enough to do this while respecting your budget limitations. I am definitely using them again on upcoming home projects.

They display a strong working understanding of construction costs, timelines and order of events which was extremely helpful and on point. We interviewed a few designers before we met and agreed to hire Carl & Rachel and Crawford Pallini. After a great experience redoing the bathrooms in our 100 year old home we worked with them on the kitchen and several other updates. They brought us creative ideas we would never have thought of, connected us to unique vendors that were able to do great work, and the result is a home that we love, and guests rave about. The money we spent with them was well worth it, our house definitely looks that much better because of it.
