We started our kitchen make-over a couple of years ago with new tile floors. We then upgraded counter-tops, back splash, sink and stove. The final piece of the puzzle was what to do with our 1979 kitchen cabinets. Our cabinets were dark, dingy, and the original soft pine surface had some serious gouges that would prevent us from a simple paint job. Our only options were a complete replacement or resurfacing. We did our homework by researching various website reviews, considering both the contractor and the type of service they provided. During our reviews, we zeroed in on Cabinet Cures of Oklahoma. My wife had also visited their booth at a Home & Garden Show. We contacted Don Childress and set up an appointment. Don visited our home, gave us some ideas, and invited us to his office in Edmond to look at some samples. We were drawn to a unique Hickory display sample that Don had in his showroom. Don provided us with a few different door samples to bring home to compare to our counter tops and flooring. After making our decision for the Hickory resurface option, Don and Jason returned to our home to make exact measurements, provide insight to slide-outs and other options, and finalize our project plan. Since Don had to order our cabinet doors and he already had other projects scheduled, there was a bit of a wait but, nothing that we weren't already prepared for.
Once the doors arrived. Don had the doors and trim clear coated and glazed as per our request. Don scheduled his "installation team" in and everything went as scheduled. Early in the process, I noted that the existing framework for our recessed lighting looked horrible when compared to the new Hickory wood we had selected. I asked Jason to contact Don and see if it might be possible to upgrade the framework, as well. Don came back with a very reasonable quote to upgrade the framework. Best decision I ever made!
Don's installation team (Jason, Zach, Chris and Stephen) did a spectacular job. They were courteous, considerate, accommodating and kept us informed of their progress each day. They did "clean-ups" before they left our house each day and were very careful with our belongings. These guys are true professionals and it was a pleasure having them in our home.
In summary, our kitchen looks terrific. It is lighter and brighter and looks like a kitchen you would find in any new home being built today. We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend Cabinet Cures of Oklahoma if you are considering a kitchen remodel as we were. Thanks to Don and his staff for a job well done.
