Home Specialists have done a major addition and remodel to our cottage. Now completed and lived in it for a few months, I can say they do great work. As someone who is in pharmaceutical quality control and trained to be picky, they met or exceeded all of my expectations. Pros - Great communication, easy to work with, quality work and workmanship, knowledgeable creative solutions. Cons - Not free :)

I would absolutely 100% never recommend this company to anyone. I contracted them to remove a fireplace and install windows. The quality of work was poor at best, the amount of trash left that I had to clean up was unacceptable, floors, furniture, carpet, deck boards and walls were damaged, the installers entered areas of my home where the work was not being performed and I had installers/subcontractors entering my home when there was no work scheduled or without being notified. I was boldfaced lied to by my sales person on numerous occasions. I was asked if it was okay for the installers use my bathroom, which I told them that I prefer they did not, so they chose to urinate off my front porch into my flower beds for all my neighbors to witness. I was told this would be a 1-week project, but received their schedule when work began and it turned into 4. Ultimately, this project took 28 weeks from the lack of communication without the job ever being completed by Home Specialists.

We've been using Home Specialists for about a decade now. It started out with some window installations and siding repair. That lead into a brand new deck, along with a front door. We were so happy with the service we used them for a complete overhaul of our kitchen, along with a bathroom remodel. And lastly, we recently used them to build a new house. Everyone along the way has been amazing to work with. They are professional, transparent and cost competitive (even during the recent economic hardships). They always do a great job understanding what we want, and even helping us with designs when we had no clue what we wanted. I can't say enough good things about Home Specialists and will continue to work with them for years to come.

I have relied on Home Specialists for all of my major maintenance and upgrades for the last 20 years. In every case, they did excellent work, from the initial planning of projects to execution. Their pricing is fair as well. I am so grateful to this team! Most recently they updated all of my bathrooms. Their work exceeded expectations, as always.

Home Specialists LLC took on a four month complete rebuild of the interior of a 60 year-old home in Grand Rapids which I had purchased with the goal of updating the look and creating an environment where I could safely age in place. A project which I had somewhat dreaded became a wonderful adventure in the hands of this family-owned building company. Kevin DeVisser totally connected with my vision and, with his capable team of designers, builders and subcontractors, helped me every step of the way. The work ethic and technical professionalism and expertise of the entire team was truly exceptional. The comments from family, friends and neighbors on seeing my "new" home tell the story. Highly recommended!

Kitchen update included bumping out window, quartz countertop, under cabinet lighting and new tile and backsplash. Nice work and will probably use them again.
