If B&H wasn't a design-build company, I'd be convinced that they are a communications company. Their dialogue with us was so consistent, reliable, and professional - we did NOT have the type of experience we've heard many others complain about with their builders. My wife wanted to have her hands on everybit of this project and she and the Reguqias made beautiful art together. B&H drew us in with their beautiful designs, clean lines, and attention to detail, but they kept us with their communication skills and follow-through. Not sure if you want to build a house? After purchasing a plot of land we were tipped off to Brush and Hammer by our amazing realtor and loan officer. We spent a lot of time looking at their builds on their website and social media and we fell in love with their craft and design. The effectiveness of their communication and attention to detail was apparent right at the beginning. After our first meeting, where we discussed must haves and what we are drawn to for looks in a home, we worked together to design the perfect floor plan that would meet the needs of our family. Plans were presented to us in a way that allowed us to see a few different layouts all within our price point making us feel like we had complete control over the choices put into our build. We worked closely with Brush and Hammer as they captured our own individual style and design which was perfectly executed in the build of our dream home. In the end Brush and Hammer built us a high end custom home that is uniquely ours and we could not be any happier!

There is no doubt Brush and Hammer is a top company to work with in regards to quality of construction, and customer service/experience. They have great insight to emerging and existing trends to help educate, and ultimately mold and match a customers vision to the actual build. They're organized and consistent, which is very important from the production side of new construction when it comes to quality, budgets, and meeting deadlines. In my business to business experience in new construciton and other industries, there is correlation between being organized and consistent with your vendors, as well as your customers, ultimately determining customer satisfaction. I had the pleasure of designing our new home to suit our next phase of life as we head into retirement. Consequently, I wanted to have a lot of input into the finishing details. Working with the Brush and Hammer team to realize this vision was a lot of fun. They have managed to put together a team that is friendly, polite and hard working. They kept to schedule and delivered on time. We have been in our home more than a year now and love living in it.

Since beginning our relationship with Brush and Hammer we have had only positive experiences. From the design process to the final punch list we have found them organized, professional, creative, and easy to communicate with. Much of the building was done through emails and phone calls while we were living away and everything proceeded without a stumble. We had a great experience working with the team, they really made the build process amazing. Exceeding expectations is exactly what they did! The communication during every phase of the project was outstanding. We were always kept up to date with daily and weekly plans, informed of timeline and deadlines for decisions. Discussed and reviewed items in the field or on calls, and most importantly they brought ideas to the table, while also listening to our needs. The difference is in the details. We hired Brush and Hammer Builders to build our custom home. It was our first home building experience and Brush and Hammer were the perfect fit. They have an awesome design eye and a perspective, and they ultimately helped put us in the best position to get exactly the home we wanted. In short, Brush and Hammer Builders is polite, fair, thoughtful, and (most importantly) competent – very competent. I had the pleasure of working with Brush and Hammer on a higher-end newly constructed home. The biggest challenge for me was doing it from across the country. I never saw it between the time I saw the empty lot and 5 months later when it was finished. Here’s my detailed review of Brush and Hammer Builders. GENERAL CONTACT/ CUSTOMER SERVICE Anthony was and continues (12 months later) to always answer my phone calls and respond to my text messages promptly. I’m so impressed with his professionalism and responsiveness. CONTRACT NEGOTIATION Anthony was more than fair during the contract negotiation phase. He was willing to strike/edit 3 of his contract terms that made me uncomfortable. He also quickly updated his contract to meet the current standard Maine home construction contractual terms established by the State government. I really appreciated how detailed the construction contract was written. It spelled out everything that would be included/excluded, budgets, and expectations of me as a customer/client. We found the budgeting for every area to be spot on with our expectations. We were able to reach a compromise on a number of upgrades we did to our home that was more than fair. Perhaps the biggest testament to how great this process went was that there was no need to involve lawyers. The contract was written in straightforward language that was easy to understand and edit. DESIGN We love Anthony’s sense of style and taste. He was a huge help in guiding us through the many selections we, as buyers, have to make throughout the build process. We had to select siding, countertops, lighting fixtures, finishing, hardware, door styles, cabinetry design, bathroom vanities, bathroom tile, paint colors for walls and cabinets, etc. Anthony would always provide us with 3-6 great choices, but he also allowed us to move outside those choices as well. He gave honest and polite feedback if he thought we were going in a direction that maybe wasn’t good. He also pointed out how changes to one selection impact the other choices in terms of what would or would not work well together. BUILD The build phase was impressive. Even though we were not on site, Anthony texted us pictures on at least a weekly basis and at times, daily. I noticed a few things that I wanted changed such as the placement of windows, or moving some of the framing around for the fireplace framing and he was able to accommodate those changes quickly. He also put in a bathtub that did not match our taste. I think he swapped it out within 48 hours of us giving him feedback. Most importantly, since we were across the country, the fact that he sent us pictures allowed us to assess whether the build was happening as we wanted it. The transparency was amazing. When we told our friends about what our builder was doing, they were shocked at how closely Anthony involved us throughout all stages of the build. I would say Brush and Hammer has a commitment to customer satisfaction that goes well above and beyond the average builder. I would also say Anthony’s attentiveness to little details such as placement of outlets, light switches, HVAC vents, etc. was really very thoughtful. FOLLOW-UP/PUNCH LIST Perhaps the most impressive part of working with Brush and Hammer builders has been (i) how few/little issues we’ve had with a new home which speaks to their quality, and (ii) how quickly they’ve responded to the requests to address the minor issues that we’ve had. And they continue to do it 12 months AFTER we closed on the home. New homes are incredibly complex from the structure settling to the water, HVAC, and electrical systems. Anthony has quickly addressed any minor issues we’ve had with any those systems. Typically, I would say we had our issues resolved in 4-7 calendar days. If it was something like heat (due to a defective component from the furnace manufacturer) in winter, then we had our issue resolved in less than 24 hours. Where most builders fall short and disappear after closing, Brush and Hammer steps up their game and ensures their customers are happy. Anthony is a savvy businessman with a keen sense of marketing. He thoughtfully protects their reputation and brand by ensuring their customers are happy with their homes and with them as builders. FINAL THOUGHTS I highly recommend them and hope to work with them again at some point in the future for either my parents or in the distant future for myself.

As a real estate professional, it isn’t uncommon to walk through a property that you wish was yours... This is exactly what happened to me the day I walked through one of Brush and Hammer Builders spec homes in Portland, Maine. I quickly brought my husband back, and with little convincing we quickly signed a contract to hire them as our builders to make this dream a reality. One of the first things that stood out to me about Anthony and Adam was their attention to detail and passion for their craft. I was completely floored by their selection of finishes, carpentry and ability to work with you to ensure they were creating the space you envisioned. In my case... this was an open kitchen design with lots of storage, and a walk-in butlers pantry with a counter top and floating shelving. While my husband didn’t think it could happen, they proved otherwise, and have created a space for me with beautiful, high quality cabinetry, custom navy island end panels, and the pantry exactly as I imagined. Anthony and Adam have experience in design, are organized, wonderful communicators, and have a fantastic process that results in an incredible product.
