BLUE Renovation & Landscape

Derek and his crew at BLUE Renovation & Landscape were phenomenal. I couldn't be happier with the process, price, and outcome. I first met with Derek to tell him what I was looking for and we did a walkthrough. I told him I wanted to finish things within a few weeks as well. He came back quickly with a quote and some of his own suggestions for me to review. He even came back for another walk thru with some samples to confirm everything. Some of his suggestions were things I hadn't considered or didn't think I wanted, but turned out to really help complete my yard! Within the week of our final walk thru he and his crew got right to work and were able to hit my deadline with time to spare. I haven't been happier with a project since I've been in my home and I've already used my backyard more in the past week that it's been completed than I had in the previous year of living here. I've also received so many great compliments on the work, including people asking for contact info! Thanks again to Derek and his crew for such a fantastic job!

Blue Renovations (Derek Woods) designed and installed an extension to our small patio and did a terrific job. They are no-nonsense, practical, skilled landscapers who complete the work exactly as specified within the time frame and budget we established at the outset. It was a small project, but Derek treated the job as if it were as important to him as it was to us. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for any outdoor work you may be planning. We intend on calling on Blue Renovations to do some planting in the Spring.

Derek the owner is the consummate professional. He came to my home multiple times to help me dial in the scope of work and the budget. Once we agreed upon the work to be done, he kept in touch with when folks would be on site and the timeframe to complete. The new stone walkway, gravel and fresh plants suited to the shaded areas in my yard have totally updated the look of my home. They hauled away all the items removed and left a clean worksite. We had one issue with a sprinkler head after the fact and he was immediately on it to bring his irrigation guy and make the repair. I would highly recommend Blue Renovation & Landscape. Derek is hands on and takes great pride in his work.

Derek did an amazing job with our landscape project. He was extremely thorough in his initial assessment of our project and spent ample time measuring and analyzing each existing bed to determine with us which plants and ground cover would work best. I love the manner in which he bid the project by bed / area of the yard, so that we could prioritize where we wanted to invest first. He also worked with a tree trimming company to trim our trees and brought along his irrigation contractor to assist with a pretty major drainage issue that we needed to work on with our neighbors. He was there every step of the way. He is easy to work with, a great communicator, and always followed up with a revised bid when we indicated that we wanted to change something. No surprises! We love the look and would definitely recommend Derek to you for your next landscape job!

Derek was fabulous to work with and did a great job with our landscaping project. He communicates with you regularly, shows up when he says he is, and is a perfectionist. A couple of our neighbors are already using him!

I had the pleasure of working with Derek and his team at Blue Renovation earlier this summer! Derek is extremely professional and goes above and beyond to ensure that the project is complete to the clients needs. He really analyzes each section of the yard and landscape to make sure that it makes sense visually...its quite impressive! I consulted with Derek after reading a positive review on our neighborhood forum on NextDoor. Derek was a good communicator and took time to understand the scope of the project, took pics and measurements and got back to me with the project broken up by sections so I could see costs. After a couple of rounds of revisions via email, Derek knocked out the project and remained a good communicator through installation, calling me with any questions and sending text photos from vendors to help make selections. I would recommend Blue Renovation and Landscape and would hire again.

From the start, Derek had a great sense of the scope of the project, my budget, and the aesthetic. He put together great proposals and I came to trust his eye for design and his suggestions. Derek did a ton of the hard work himself, always on time, unobtrusive, courteous - same goes for his team. Whenever there was a problem or a question, Derek responded in a timely and professional way, happy to make the fix. We started with one project in mind and kept adding on improvements and features - but all of it worked together organically and I never got the sense that Derek was trying to upsell me or talk me into services I didn't need. Great guy, quality work - highly recommended!

We hired Blue Renovation & Landscape back in March and couldn't be more satisfied! As a homeowner you want to trust who you hire and from our very first meeting I knew Derek would be easy to work with. He was polite, courteous, on time and most importantly, asked a lot of questions to best understand what we wanted. He truly partnered with us. When it came time for the work, Derek and his team were on time, polite and didn't leave a mess upon completion. Most importantly the work was excellent and our home landscaping looks incredible. Blue renovation redid my back yard...new deck, new fences, gravel, and sod. Derek, the owner, was prompt, courteous, and managed the project perfectly. Old school, I told him, a wonderfully refreshing distinction for a person so young! The work was first rate and he relationship went smoothly and professionally. We recently completed a renovation with Derek, who worked with our own design concepts and adapted to our needs throughout the process. He was within his budget estimations, the expected time frame, and excelled at listening to what we wanted. In addition to landscaping part of our front and back yards, he created the steel steps we needed to complete a remodel, and was patient throughout the inspection process. Derek was responsive and always pleasant. I highly recommend him.

I've always lived in condos and had never been near a lawnmower much less have any idea about landscape design! I knew I needed professional help when I purchased my first house as the back yard was dried-up, neglected and sloping at all sorts of awkward angles that made it difficult for me to visualize what was even possible with the space. At first I was a little intimidated approaching landscape companies as I felt like I should have a much clearer idea of what I wanted to do. Thankfully from the first time I called Derek he put my mind at rest and told me that ‘somewhere to sit outside with friends and a few beers’ was enough to get him started! I was first attracted to BLUE Renovation because of the modern aesthetic of their work. It was helpful to see photos of other projects and that’s why I’m including some before and after shots of the work that was completed at my home. Derek was patient and flexible as we worked through various design options, and was always responsive when he needed to seek additional input before confirming an idea. He spent many hours with me at my home discussing options and helping me understand pros and cons, and I found he really focused on achieving the right balance between utilization of space, modern design and cost. I was confident we had the same vision in mind, and I appreciated his gentle nudging if my thoughts started to take us off track (the trellis wall I suggested wasn’t going to cut it with the desired modern look and thank goodness he let me know that!) The team of contractors he brought in were also fantastic, each one of them showing great pride in their work and being a pleasure to interact with. My back yard turned out to be more of a construction project than anything else, but as I saw things take shape, I couldn’t resist asking Derek to take on the front yard too. I am thrilled with both of them and think they really enhance my home. It’s almost like this is how the yards should always have looked, and for me that’s the sign of excellent design. In summary, I was a novice to all of this (but also a bit of a control freak who likes to know what’s going on at each stage!) and Derek led me gently through the whole process, asking for input where required but making recommendations when necessary. I thoroughly appreciated the regular status updates by text and phone and feel like I ended up with a finished product that looks much more expensive than it actually was. I cannot recommend Derek and BLUE Renovation highly enough.
