We thoroughly enjoyed working with Tish last year on the landscape design for our new custom home. She is incredibly talented and also a true professional. Tish immediately saw the raw potential of the forested site and how to integrate it with the modern home design and black Shou Sugi siding. The courtyard area in the backyard turned out “totally amazing”, integrating the patios on multiple levels with the dry creek bed. Her instincts to “go big” on the boulders was spot on and I marvel at it on a daily basis as I gaze through the windows from inside. Thank you for your inspiration and friendship!

Our landscape project was the final phase of a long house renovation project and Tish’s landscape design was the final touch that was needed. Tish recognized the unique architecture of our house and the challenges that our property presented. She created a beautiful landscape design that both emphasized the architecture of the house and its natural surroundings. It was great working with Tish; she is professional, knowledgeable and attentive. Along with working with Tish, we got to work with her team who installed the landscaping. Like Tish, they were great to work with and did an amazing job.

My wife and I decided to redo the landscaping at our 30-year old residence on Port Madison. We decided to use Tish after seeing a project she did at the new home of a friend. Our project was completed the week before Thanksgiving 2020. We could not be more pleased. Tish's plant selection and level to detail was amazing. In addition, Tish solved a number of drainage issues we had in our yard for many years with a combination of plantings and stones. Finally I would add Tish's crew, led by Jose, where fabulous. We used Tish on a multi year, highly complicated project in connection with building our new house. We started the project with high expectations which Tish exceeded in every way. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and worked very effectively with us, our builder and architect. The objective was to design a garden that complimented our new home and met very complex zoning restrictions and limitations. From the outset of her involvement she was able to understand the architecture of the home and help us see the possibilities. She weighed in on plant selection and layout, hardscape, lighting design, and irrigation. Her command of each of those areas was outstanding and awe inspiring! She was also able to help us stage the installation according to the construction timeframe so that the garden being done in stages all came together in the end. In addition to sourcing outstanding plant materials she effectively coordinated and oversaw the installation by our contractor. She was onsite whenever necessary, always available when questions arose and had a really nice way of communicating and directing the installation. She had not previously worked with our contractor and architect, each of whom are perfectionist in their own right, and was able to earn their confidence and respect as she demonstrated her professionalism through her design flair and her knowledge. The end result is an amazingly beautiful garden that enhances the architecture of the house and is a source of unending compliments. We recommend Tish without hesitation!!

After meeting several landscape design company's we selected Bliss Garden Design to completely redesign our yard and add an entry way fountain. We selected Bliss Garden Design for the following reasons: Her professional proposal and design, timeliness and excellent communication skills as well as suggestions on maintaining our yard and budget. Our landscaping project consisted of removing the old and redoing much of the yard and hardscapes all the way around the house. Our garden has been transformed and we couldn’t be happier with how Tish executed the project. Tish has been a pleasure to work with through every step of the process and we would recommend her services without hesitation. We too first heard of Tish through looking at her work on Houzz. We loved her use of color and texture juxtapositions and what we saw of her work online really impressed us. In addition, we did some research with folks at local garden centers and received positive feedback about her work, dedication, and quality. Our hopes about finding someone who shared our aesthetic and concerns was confirmed at our first meeting when we invited her to our house to review the project. It was at this first meeting that we knew she was someone we wanted to work with. She listened to our concerns, our goals, and our aesthetic preferences and had many wonderful suggestions on how we might work through the concerns and achieve our goals. Tish brought her experience of Bainbridge Island micro climates and other practical knowledge to bare on the issues in our project. We also liked that she sourced plants, materials and labor locally including personal selection of rock boulders and more substantial plants. Through every step in the process, Tish has been responsive to any question we might have, taking the time to answer our questions thoroughly. She is detail oriented, catching small design issues early in the design process. She played a big part in selecting local contractors with whom she had worked before (mostly) and was great at monitoring the contractors’ progress every step of the way to ensure they were following the design intent. Even at points in the project where issues could potentially alter the aesthetic intent, Tish intervened to do what was right—even if it caused additional work or effort. Summary is that Tish was great to work with, created an incredible design and worked attentively to make sure it got implemented. We love our landscape. It's a highlight of our overall project and a joy to look at and be in every day. We get complements from people all the time. A time or two, people have slowed down when driving by to holler, "love your landscape!" We found Tish via her portfolio on Houzz while searching for landscape ideas for our new home construction project. Her work stood out as perfectly matching the esthetic we wanted to achieve to match our modern home and desire for a peaceful, park-like space. We met with Tish before the existing house was torn down to walk the property (which was largely overgrown with weeds at the time) and explained as much as we could our high level requirements: - park-like garden setting in the back - trails here and there for the kid to play and explore + to draw people from the house into the garden - garden planter (wanted it, but no idea where to put it) - covered courtyard area near the house for relaxing, dining, watching kids play, etc She took a lot of photos of the site and came back with a preliminary design. One of the things we really liked was that she created renderings so we could imagine what the result would look like for various of the spaces. Overall, a fantastic success and we LOVE our landscape.

When we moved to the northwest and needed to landscape, we had many questions, including project phasing, irrigation, fence vs. hedge, and many others. I had asked new friends for landscape design referrals and the strongest referral was for Bliss Garden Design. Tish and I had a couple meetings and she took many photos of the yard. She used those photos and information from our first meetings to provided a detailed design document, complete with full mock-up photos of the new design, that really helped my husband and I see the finished yard. Following the design document, Tish prepared a detail list of what needed to happen when for the initial phase. Through her contacts and local experience, Tish helped us find the landscape and fencing contractors but Tish stayed involved in every detail as the contractors moved through the plan. Now as I write this, I am looking out on our beautifully fenced, newly planted garden. I will love watching it fill over the years. We are very happy with the results, Tish is a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to next phase. Thank you Tish!

I discovered Tish from some of her portfolio featured in Sunset magazine and realized she was a local designer. From the initial meeting, to the installation, and questions I had after the project was complete, Tish has been an absolute joy to work with. She transformed a very unsightly landscape into something very beautiful. I appreciate her attention to detail. Her favorite quote is "the devil is in the details!" Nearly at our wits end with our shady, weedy, high-maintanence, mess of a yard, we hired Tish Treherne of Bliss Garden Design after interviewing several other designers. "A Garden of Earthly Delights" describes what Tish Treherne of Bliss Garden Design created for us. She began with an entirely blank canvas. Nothing more than a house on a l acre lot, abutted to wetlands and lots of weeds with nothing of intrinsic value or beauty. She sketched what would become her vision for the space, always listening intently for what our hopes and expectations might be. She designed several garden areas, each ideally suited to its natural location and intended use. As we are new to the PNW, Tish educated us to the best plant choices for the locale as well as including some personal requests. What emerged is a palette of soft colors and textures which provide interest and beauty in each season. Each visitor and guest to our home has commented on the beauty of the landscape and the peaceful tranquility of the enviornment. It is a huge accommplishment and tribute to Tish's gift and talent. The project was completed in the timeframe and budget discussed. We continue to enjoy working with Tish on the seasonal adjustments to the garden as it matures and welcome her continuing involvement.
