Black Willow Design

Black Willow Designs created a landscape plan for a 1920's house in Lindbergh Forest, Knoxville TN. The front yard had too much English ivy plus older varieties of invasive ornamentals which were difficult to maintain. The ornamentals were not placed in the landscape properly either--too close to the house, etc. We wanted a more sustainable landscape featuring TN native plants and edible plants. Joan Monaco and her team worked with us to execute about a third of the plan during spring 2016. Ms. Monaco has a network of expertise to call on. One of our favorite features of the design is a small terrace created from urbanite (concrete left over from other projects in our neighborhood) that one of Ms. Monaco's subcontractors installed. The first project we worked with Ms. Monaco on was total kitchen redesign fall 2015, which we appreciate every day. The landscape plan our second project with Ms. Monaco. We are discussing a third accessibility project with her. We value her listening skills and, on the landscape project, her firm's deep knowledge of native plants and landscape design. They do what they say they will do on time and on budget. We would be glad to add to this recommendation at any time.

We consulted with the design team at Black Willow Design for a drainage issue in our yard. We wanted to work with a company who would address the problems utilizing ecologically sustainable methods and native plants. Black Willow Design had been highly recommended by friends who had used them who had similar issues in their yard. We were very impressed with the professionals with whom we consulted. It was readily apparent that they were experts in their field. Their estimate fell within our budget and once completed the project costs were actually less than the estimate! The professional team educated us about each stage of the installation and answered all our questions. The team worked steadily as the weather permitted and the project was completed in a timely way. The completed project is not only functional, solving our drainage issues, but, as the plantings have matured extra-ordinarly beautiful. We have received nothing but rave reviews from our neighbors and others in our neighborhood, in addition to a friend, are using Black Willow for projects.

We consulted with Black Willow Design to get their thoughts and recommendations on dealing with drainage issues in our yard. It was important to us to address the issues in an ecologically sustainable way while being esthetically pleasing to us and our neighbors and attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. We found the professionals at Black Willow to be extremely knowledgable and very willing to listen to our needs and ideas and to incorporate them when possible into the design they presented us. The overall costs of the project was well within our budget and when completed fell below the final estimate quoted to us and within the stated time frame. In working with the team we found them to be very informative regarding the stages and all the crew members were very personable and worked meticulously. The outcome far exceeded our expectations and we have received nothing but praise and admiration from our neighbors and friends. Two of our friends subsequently have contracted with Black Willow for projects on their properties. The professionals at Black Willow design have continued to follow-up with us, visiting regularly to insure the project was serving it's purpose and to monitor the plant growth
