i have worked with Raven for 30 years and they have established themselves as a number 1, Go To Source for custom doors and millwork. I have purchased many items from custom wood grilles, window sash, Radius Top doors and trim, and more. They have always done a very good job with detail and have always stepped up if there was any defect found.

Short of winning the lotto, this typical 1905 foursquare will never get all the projects done that I dream up. Most years - it's only a project a year that our disposible income will allow. For some time now I'd been researching options for a nice old-fashioned wooden screen door with a window inset for winter. In the 10 years we've lived here I think we've already replaced two or three of the typical storm doors purchased from whatever big box store had the best deal. Only stop gaps - I was never happy - but they were functional (regardless of how ugly I thought they looked). I wanted something that would be around for a long long time and also looked like it had always been part of the house. Getting it made locally...that is always a plus and my preference for sure. I knew from the outset that we are not the "big fish" client that R & J Raven works with on a regular basis however, from the start I came in with my modest plan and was always treated with the utmost respect. We wanted a door that "belonged" to this house... one that was carefully built, properly installed and made by people who take pride in the work they do. It is unusual in our "slap-it-together-as-fast-and-as-cheaply-as-we-can" society to find companies that actually still do things carefully. It was well worth the wait!
