I recently had my windows to by brick brownstone purchased and installed through Bay Ridge Windows and Doors (BRWD) and I am very happy with the final results. Originally, I contacted a contractor and Anderson Windows to get quotes and recommendation in addition to BRWD. After learning a lot about windows and learning the lingo, I decided to go with BRWD as they not only were local, had the best price, great customer service in dealing with all of my questions and frustrations about the whole process of purchasing new windows, and most importantly were extremely familiar in working with older historic homes. I decided to purchase new construction brick mold casing Marvin Windows after learning that I would not only get new frames but also get the windows installed to the brick and get tons of insulation, a huge plus in a home that we soon learned had no insulation in the windows moldings and still had the old weights from the original windows in the old framing. After ordering it took about 7-8 weeks for the windows to come in and installation of all 12 windows occurred within a week over three days. The crew that came in was excellent, one time, professional, answered more of our questions, and did a great god with clean-up and packing in the much needed insulation to the windows and the original moldings in all windows. The difference both before and after not just in look but in temperature (magically it was now consistent one each floor) in the house is amazing. I highly recommend working with this company as Luis and his team were fantastic. My tips to those looking for new windows and deciding between replacement and new construction on older homes is to go for the new construction. While slightly more expensive, it will save you on heat and energy efficiency. Definitely take your time to learn more about the process and work with someone who will be responsive and answer all of your questions. My only con would be that there was damage made to the original molding in several parts of the windows that was not properly repaired. Luckily, my Dad is a master carpenter and can repair and match the colors properly, something they were not able to do. My recommendation to the company would be to higher someone along my dads caliber to complete and do any refinishing to damage caused by installation especially in 100 year old + homes where craftsmanship is difficult to mimic.
