I sent my technician to your home on Tuesday Jan 24th. He could not get on your roof because he was not comfortable with the condition of the shingles and the ladder that he had would not get him on the roof in any other way. Then on January 28th (four days later on a Saturday. . . which we are closed, so my day off) I came to measure the chimney myself. I have been getting on roofs for over twenty years. I tried to get to your chimney from the roof and could not because your roof is one of the worst roofs I have been on EVER! The shingles were coming apart under my feet and it was not safe to even be up there AT ALL. I then tried to get to the chimney from the ground with my 32 foot ladder. It was plenty tall enough, but the way that your back yard is designed there was no safe way to set it up for me to get to the top of the chimney with out putting MY LIFE IN DANGER. I then pulled off the job and told you that I did not think that I could do the job. I told you on January 30th that your roof was in terrible condition and you emailed me back (in writing): "Yes, I’m aware of all that. Just let me know." I told you that I might be able to use a 40 foot ladder to go up from your side yard, but I was pretty sure that it would not work either. We are very busy and I simply have not had to time to come to your home for a third FREE trip to attempt something that is more dangerous than I should even be involved with. . . especially when the shroud that you want is 100% decorative and does not impact the safety or function of your fireplace at all and you desperately need a new roof. I had planned to come back an attempt the measurement one more time this past weekend, but a sprained my wrist and cannot carry a very heavy 40 foot ladder and now it would be twice as dangerous to be on your roof. Then instead of giving me a couple days to heal, you have gone on the war path posting reviews every where that you can to make me look bad. I apologize that I value my life and the lives of my crew more than I value money. Just because you want the work done does not mean I have to do it if it is deemed unsafe.
