We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Jon and the team at Archaeo. To say that these are "difficult times" to build a home is an understatement, but in spite of the potholes (supply chain, contractor staffing issues, etc,) Archaeo designed a fabulous house and held our hand through all the adjustments. We would recommend them without reservation.

Jon Dick and his team at Archaeo worked with us on designing a home from ideation to complete plans. We loved Jon's contemporary design sensibility and its relationship to function. The complete process was a delight and totally client focused. Jon took a lot of time to understand what we wanted and what our own style was. We were impressed with the level of detail Jon brought to the discussions, as well as his creative suggestions. Jon has a firm but soft touch with clients - meaning if he saw something in our creative process that he knew was not going to work, he'd address it directly and collaboratively with a solution or two that would work. He took the lead to help us through the rough patches (they were zoning and land related) and advised on everything from builders to excavation to local city politics. Jon made the entire experience as easy for us as possible. Work was done at a good pace, the team was communicative and they were conscious of our budget at all times. Jon Dick is an extremely talented architect who listens attentively to his customers' vision and ideas, and then does a wonderful job translating all that into your dream home. We funded a competition between three well known architecture firms to develop a concept proposal to determine which would design our new house. The results showed that Archaeo Architects most clearly understood our needs and desires as laid out in our program book. As part of their winning submission they visited the site and clearly considered the location, topography and history in their proposal. The principal architects were Jon Dick and Aaron Bohrer. They worked with us weekly to to develop the initial design and move through to a detailed design. They worked with the selected building contractor to 'value-engineer' certain details for cost control. The final design was prepared in a timely manner of several months. After a natural disaster (forest fire) destroyed a significant fraction of our town, Archaeo stepped up to do a complete and timely redesign of the project to deal with our much changed circumstances. Archaeo provided supervision of the building contractor, reviewing all work, rejecting or approving payment of contractor draws as they deemed the work acceptable. The design combines both modern and traditional building materials in a much admired, award winning structure in a prominent location that has become a very comfortable home for us.

The quality and thoroughness of their plans are exceptional, but more importantly, the heart and sole infused into the design elicit a genuine sense of harmony, balance and light within the structure and its inhabitants.

Review of Jon Dick and Archaeo Architects for Houzz We have been working with Jon Dick and his staff at Archaeo Architects a little over a year now, but we feel like we’ve known him for much longer – in fact, Paul fell in love with an Archaeo house 8 years before we met Jon. When we started looking for architects and ran across Archaeo’s website, we immediately gravitated towards Jon’s designs; it was evident that we were destined to collaborate. Collaboration is fundamental to Jon’s approach – he has encouraged our input, and we have seen our ideas regarding both form and function get incorporated, assimilated, enhanced, and woven into the fundamental design of our new home. Jon has been careful to address the land and associated natural features, so that our home will harmonize with our surroundings. From the very beginning, Jon has taken a personal interest in understanding our needs, our desires, our lifestyle – so that our new home will be a reflection of who we are and how we interact with the world. Early on, he took us on a tour to see homes he designed and meet his clients. We experienced the beautiful, thoughtful details in each place, heard the delight as the owners discussed the design process and their homes, and witnessed the friendships Jon and his clients still share. The tour, which included an overnight out of town, was both illuminating and really fun. Jon’s holistic approach combines his personal engagement with us, smart business practices, superior architectural skills, and his unique combination of imagination, artistry, and innovation. Jon Dick was extremely intuitive and patient with what has turned out to be a very long project. The uniqueness of the designed combined with the spiritual ambiance has resulted in a sacred space beyond what I had hoped. Archaeo Architect's entire staff has been very attentive during all stages of the project. Their oversight and focus on keeping the project within budget was always well managed and all changes or unexpected costs were routinely reviewed prior to work being started. We had a very difficult addition need for our house. Intent on changing from Santa Fe brown and round to modern, and not wanting the inside to look like a hotel, Archaeo was the only design firm capable of creating a beautiful addition. I worked with Jon to search for and select a parcel of land for our vacation house in Santa Fe. We then worked together to determine the "must-have's" and "like-to-have's." After interviewing a number of skilled architects, it became clear that Archaeo Architects’ Jon Dick was working at a more complex level. He looked at a topographical map of our ten acres and in his mind saw the property; he listened to our desires and began to envision them; he became astutely aware of our financial boundaries and immediately respected them. His knowledge of Southwestern vernacular architecture allowed our home to settle in on the Rio Bonito as if it has always been here, and we live comfortably with the climate, with the land and its wildlife. Our collaboration with him has been a creative delight, and not a day passes without our expressing gratitude for Jon’s experience, his treatment of light, his attention to detail, and his abiding good humor.

My wife and I used Archaeo as our architects for a 1m+ home in the ABQ/Santa Fe area with design and construction from 2010/12. John designed a home that is the talk of the neighborhood and that fits our wants and needs to a tee. Professional, available, up-to-date, imaginative, knowledgeable about new building techniques, listens and reduces the clients desires to hard construction design.
