Her philosophy strongly imbibes that a design should rise and mold itself from the urban fabric while yet etching itself onto it, architecture, landscape and interior design should blend perfectly so as to melt the barriers between inside and outside.

Ar. Amritha Karnakar, is the founder and creative head of the firm AKAD (Amritha Karnakar Architectural Design). She graduated from Kamla Raheja Vidhyanidhi Institute of Architecture in 2008. Studied at the Berne University, Switzerland and specialized in Interior design for Hotels from Domus, Milan. Before starting her own practice she has worked under S+PS architect (Mumbai) and AEBI+VINVENT buro (Switzerland). She has also taught in Kamla raheja. AKAD was formed in 2010, since then they have worked on many interior, architecture, landscape projects. Work has been featured in magazines like Design Matrix and Inside outside.

My dream was very ethnic and traditional yet trendy and comfortable. i saw few pics of Amritha’s house and just fell in love with that space, instantly i called her up, ever since i met her, i had a close friend doing my home, So patient, so calm, so sweet, she gave so much attention to whatever details i told her, i would always have 4-5 options to select from i would highly highly recommend Amritha and her team everyone They literally gives you the best Home All the best Amritha

I’ve worked with Amrita on 2 projects...my residential house and outhouse project. Both have been a great experience. She was very organised and systematic in her designing, planning and execution phase. She understood our needs well and could execute the same meticulously to meet our requirements. Her out of box ideas, colour combinations, quality control and quirkiness resulted in a product we love and enjoy. An absolute delight to work with:)
