QBS Engineering Consultants

QBS have worked with SKK on a number of projects now, and happily continue to do so. It’s difficult not to be absorbed by the sheer enthusiasm of these guys. As a fellow professional, it’s great to see that there are still people in the industry who really care about real life Client concerns, looking beyond merely the aesthetic. Yes! You really can have an Architect, who not only produces a beautiful end product, but is equally mindful of the capital outlay, understands how to integrate sustainability, and uses their extensive experience to project manage, on time, and on budget.

Adam was recommended to us and at short notice he went to see a listed in house on our behalf before we put in an offer. His suggestions were imaginative but also sensitive to the existing building and he quickly put together an outline schedule of work for us. We did not end up buying the house and felt disappointed that we missed out on the opportunity of working with Adam to realise his plans for the building.

SKK is the best architectural design company EVER!! I absolutely cannot recommend them highly enough. They will go through the entire design and building process with you from start to finish. Their knowledge and experience is next to none and they never leave a question unanswered, always go out of their way to help, to find information, to follow-up on conversations and all things related to the planning process. They do not "dilly dally" and always take action immediately following a conversation or meeting. Their creativity and ideas are exceptional, but at the same time they will never force their ideas upon you. Whenever I have any questions or want advice, ideas or suggestions about any aspect of the project, they always make me feel welcome and comfortable while simultaneously being straight talking and honest - a quality I very much appreciate. I completely trust Adam and the team from SKK and am so happy to have met him after some bad previous experiences. Adam, in particular, is a creative problem-solver, a great negotiator and has a brilliant sense of humour, which is much needed when going through a major construction project. I am so happy to be in such good hands. SKK is definitely the architectural design company to go with.

I can't say enough good things about Adam and the guys at SKK. We had already spoken to two other architects about our project and both had said we wouldn't be able to get permissions for what we wanted. Adam thought we could and he was right. He is fast, efficient, friendly, really knowledgable, responds very quickly to phone calls and emails. He clearly knows the score with planning and communicated really well with us, Cambridge Council and our builder. Our permission came through this week after only two months, well in advance of what we were expecting re timescale and we couldn't be happier. If you are doing anything that needs an architect, don't hesitate to get in touch with this firm.

We worked with Adam on plans for a renovation of our 2 bed Edwardian terrace in Hertfordshire. He and the team were extremely professional, enthusiastic and knowledgeable throughout the process. As first timers on a project like this, we felt able to rely on the expertise of Adam and his team when making decisions and were presented with lots of different options at each stage. Any changes that we wanted making to plans were swiftly executed. Although completion of the project has been put on hold due to a change in our personal circumstances, we were pleased with the service we received and would definitely recommend SKK to others.

I worked with Adam at SKK when renovating my 2-bedroom apartment in Queen's Park, London and was blown away by his knowledge and professionalism. Not only did Adam prove himself to be highly skilled and experienced in his field, he also knew exactly what questions to ask me at a every stage in the process, making me feel like my needs were always his top priority. When I eventually decided to proceed with another company (due to a family recommendation and the offer of mate's rates) Adam continued to offer me his generous support and even went as far as putting me in touch with his own network of contacts. He is someone that is truly passionate about what he does and puts as much focus into his clients as he does into his work. You could not ask to work with a more professional, knowledgeable and genuinely decent guy - and all his contacts say the same thing! If you want to take the stress out of your renovation and let someone else handle all the pressure, Adam is your man. l I highly recommend him and SKK and would definitely work with him again.

Adam and his team have been great to work with while planning our leisure extension, which will include both a gym and entertainment area. Despite some issues with planners, the project is well on its way and that is all down to the hard work and professionalism of the SKK team. This is my first time doing a project like this, and Adam has guided me through each step in friendly manner. I would not hesitate to recommend SKK Design and would encourage everyone to explore using them as a company!

I’ve had the good fortune to work with Adam and his team for many years and on a number projects, employing SKK’s creative genius and practical solution-based approach to challenges. Not only is Adam a talented designer but he brings with him a light humoured, ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude and a speed of efficiency to all and anything that is posed to him. This mindset radiates throughout his team at SKK. Adam is incredibly tenacious with great attention to detail, always going above and beyond what is asked of him. I'm disappointed to be editing my original review (included below because SKK's design and planning permission work were very good). However I'd no longer recommend SKK because they seriously mismanaged the tender process to find a builder. We interviewed two builders - one put forward by SKK, one put forward by us. The builder we suggested submitted his quote on time. The builder SKK suggested submitted a few days later, and we were astonished to see that the quote was almost identical, down to the nearest £10 for each budget line. The wording and order had been changed, but figures were the same. SKK claim they mistakenly forwarded one builder's quote to the second, but this doesn't match their original response, or the builder's story. It gives me no pleasure at all to edit this review, but the whole episode left us feeling very uncomfortable and it wouldn't be right to leave the glowing review below as the last word. Original review: After meeting three architects, we chose SKK to undertake a survey, do the necessary drawings and act as our agent with the local council for our project - a garage conversion in a Grade II listed property. We originally chose SKK having been impressed by Adam's careful listening, creative ideas and experience, along with their competitive rate. Now towards the end of SKK's work, we feel like we struck gold. SKK were consummate professionals throughout - excellent at their work, efficient and thorough. Our planning permission being granted seems in no small part to be down to Adam's gentle, friendly persistence - helpful attributes when dealing with local councils!

We hired Adam and SKK to support us planning a complete reconfiguration and refurbishment of our Victorian flat. Adam added loads of value by showing how our our existing plans could be made into a more cohesive design - for example, re configuring the floorplan to remove wasted space, and make our new second bedroom much more usable. SKK's knowledge of the building process has really helped when issues have arisen such as mistakes made by the council's planning department, or when we had to retender for the building work. They've provided interior design advice, and have generally been enthusiastic and communicative.

We enjoyed the way Adam listened to our needs and responded with good advice and information. Our brief was for a very sustainable extension and refurbishment this brought a number of complications and complex negotiations which they worked through patiently and diligently. I've worked with the SKK Design team for the last 2 years and have seen their quality workmanship and design flair on a variety of home projects, from London townhouses, country dwellings, high end flats and barn conversions. Every time, no matter the brief, the results are stunning and the project runs seamlessly with lots of happy clients. Can't recommend them highly enough!
