the team from a Blade of Grass did superb work in our yard--we had a very shaded area in our property that we were never able to successfully landscape...the grass was denuded and the various attempts to plant things in the beds failed. Colin and team took a scientific approach to the challenges we faced: the offered advice about improving sun exposure, recommended specific plant types, and then designed a beautiful shade garden with step pathway that has far exceeded our expectations. The staff from the company (led by the experienced Atila, a great guy) were a pleasure to work with. There's a reason why a Blade of Grass is getting lots of business in our Wellesley neighborhood! Thumbs up.

My wife and I engaged a Blade of Grass after meeting with multiple landscape designers. It was a new process for us to learn and navigate through and it was clear from the first phone call that they were the right choice for us. The process was extremely thorough and combined our dream design, education, iteration, and (most importantly) partnership. We could not be happier with the end result (with many compliments from family, friends, and strangers), but the whole Blade team became a part of our daily lives throughout the project. The team's communication, collaboration, work ethic, and pride in their work was unquestionable. It is clear that the company values the relationship with their customers, but also their employees. Every interaction with each member of the Blade team was a complete joy (Colin, Dio, Atilla, Abdul, Sean, and too many others to name). They are true masters in their domain (just look at their portfolio on social media), but what truly sets them apart are their employees and the experience with each of them.

We had an exceptional experience working with A Blade of Grass this past year. From our initial meetings with Jim, were were so impressed with his infectious enthusiasm for our challenging outdoor space. We had been thinking about renovating our space for several years and had not come up with many of the thoughtful, creative design options that Jim presented to us- it was so exciting and inspiring! Soon after our initial meeting, Colin came on board to make our plans come to life. He worked closely with us to keep our project on schedule and within budget. His responsiveness, positive attitude and thoughtful insights made the process truly enjoyable. Furthermore, the team that A Blade of Grass brought in to do the hardscape, softscape and lighting were all awesome and a pleasure to have working at our home. After having done many projects over the last 12 years, this has been the most stress free and fun. A Blade of Grass surpassed our highest expectations with a spectacular result that we never could have imagined!

We loved the work a Blade of Grass had done at friends' home in Duxbury so hired them to help re-design a poorly functioning pool and patio area as well as a new design for our front yard landscaping and driveway. Jim and Colin were a joy to work with. The creative process was collaborative and fun. Colin managed through some challenging issues with our town's conservation requirements and kept us always current with timing and budget status. Frank managed such a hard-working crew of guys from masons and pool installers to earth movers and irrigation system installers. The degree of professionalism of a Blade of Grass was just amazing. The final project results is beyond our expectations and provided a beautiful backdrop for our son's August wedding. We enjoyed working with this company so much we've already begun a new project designing the landscaping for the cottage next door.

From concept to execution, a Blade of Grass exceeded our every expectation. This is a highly professional firm with fantastic folks - from the designers, to foremen to landscapers - who are creative, smart, communicative and proud of their work. We bought a new home and our yard was the "contractor's special" - a mishmash of hardscape, floating beds and plants. a Blade of Grass developed a cohesive plan, repurposing where they could and creating a beautiful final result. Their team is exceptionally talented. They listened to what we were looking for and then executed on our vision. We couldn't be happier with the results and would very highly recommend this firm to those considering a landscape project, big or small.

We hired Blade of Grass to design a landscaping plan following a home renovation. Of all the companies we interviewed, they had the most innovative and beautiful design, thanks to Jim's ingenuity and talent. But, the icing on the cake was Colin's management of the project, which came in on time and on budget. Any issues were addressed immediately and effectively. Seriously, what more is there to say? Beautiful plan, brilliant execution, very happy customers.

They engaged in our project with collaborative enthusiasm, were great about making changes as we moved from project design to implementation. Their follow-up, including now a year later, and the willingness to make modifications has been superb. The project managers as well as their whole work crew worked seamlessly together. I would without hesitation whole heartedly recommend them.

Joanna and her team were great to work with! The plantings around our house and yard were seriously overgrown and boring. Joanna designed a beautiful plan for the entire lot. I wasn't able to afford the whole project at once, so she constructively phased the plan and helped me prioritize what I could afford this year. I got to go shopping with her at the nursery, which was great fun and educational. Joanna had an encyclopedic knowledge of every plant we looked at. The installation crew led by Joel was also terrific. In fact, despite oppressive heat, they removed some old stones in the way and used them to repair and extend a fallen wall - a really thoughtful touch that went above and beyond the plan. Joanna's confidence and enthusiasm made the whole process a joy. With her encouragement I also started a small vegetable garden outside of her plan and she was very helpful with pointing me toward supplies and information I needed.

We could not be happier with the work performed by Tom Wilhelm and the rest of the team at Blade of Grass. We first worked with Tom in 2010. We purchased a 20 year old home which had not been updated in years. The yard was dated and filled with overgrown vegetation. Tom surveyed the yard and redesigned the space. Since we have very limited knowledge on plants and landscaping, we relied heavily on Tom's expertise. We were not disappointed. When designing the space Tom considered every detail including privacy concerns, colors, the reuse of existing plants, our likes and dislikes, cost, placement and size of walkways and stairs, shape of pool deck and where snow would be plowed in the winter. The result is a yard we enjoy all year-round. The yard is vibrant and filled with plants and trees suitable for our New England climate. Since it's design, the maintenance team at Blade of Grass has maintained the yard's beauty. The last couple of years Miriam Hellweg and her team have planted an amazing tulip garden. The maintenance team does a fantastic job. We highly recommend Blade of Grass.
