STEPHEN FLETCHER ARCHITECTSOne of the real joys of this project was the restoration and refurbishment of the original staircase after many decades of subdivision.
This leads from the double-height entrance hall (with new mosaic flooring to match the original) to the top of the house, past a beautiful new stained glass window by Aldo Diana.

Lynn Hopkins ArchitectsA welcoming connection between front and back was created by relocating a half bath centered underneath the double stairs. Relocating this powder room allowed the creation of a vista from the entry through the house, across the breakfast area, through a pair of french doors, onto the deck and into the garden beyond.

Walls, floors, woodwork, windows and doors were all stripped back, made good, plastered, primed and painted. We love the transformation of this stunning period property

В таком случае они будут смотреться очень элегантно, а в зависимости от наличия рельефа и выбранного материала смогут соответствовать как классическому, так и современному интерьеру.

Special details on the landing
The landing has some special Victorian details. The floorboards unusually go right to the edge of the stairwell and the spindles go straight into the floor. This was the original design and we were keen to preserve these special simple, elegant details. But this presented a challenge when installing a new floor. We developed a bespoke solution to install the floor under the spindles without damaging them or altering the original look. Our experience, skills and tools came together to create a magically seamless solution. The new floors look just like it had always been there.
The Place BetweenThis deliberate stripping to a shabby chic look provided visual interest in this fully refurb property. The lights colours on the wall and the white painted floorboards accentuated the old pine's distressed look. A balanced blend of modern and old, which added immense value to this house in need of modernisation. The modern doors were exchanged for reclaimed pine doors, which embellished a long and brightened hall. The storage galore was made just as attractive as practical.
