CLIENT GOALS Nearly every room of this lovely Noe Valley home had been thoughtfully expanded and remodeled through its 120 years, short of the kitchen. Through this kitchen remodel, our clients wanted to remove the barrier between the kitchen and the family room and increase usability and storage for their growing family. DESIGN SOLUTION The kitchen design included modification to a load-bearing wall, which allowed for the seamless integration of the family room into the kitchen and the addition of seating at the peninsula. The kitchen layout changed considerably by incorporating the classic “triangle” (sink, range, and refrigerator), allowing for more efficient use of space. The unique and wonderful use of color in this kitchen makes it a classic – form, and function that will be fashionable for generations to come.

A heritage listed Circa 1840's iconic house of Newcastle demanded a kitchen of the same stature and to match the old style interiors of the home but feature all the modern appliances & pull out hardware that a kitchen of the modern era demands. This kitchen features the following:- Benchtops: 40mm thick Natural Granite with Provincial edge mould. Doors/Drawers: Tesrol 600 series door & Fluted Panels, custom Rosettes, Corbels all with a Heritage Hand Paint finish. Capping Mould: Tesrol Country capping mould finished in Heritage Hand Paint to match cabinets. Splashbacks: Subway Tile with Pressed Metal in Powder Coated finish behind stove only. Handles: Antique Knobs to doors & Antique Handles to all drawers & pull outs. Kickboards: Recessed Matching Hand Painted kickboard with Island sides & back Featuring Capping Mould proud of kick face & panels above. This project was a tribute to the vision and optimism of the owners. This once-glorious home was so far gone that many people would have taken the easy path -tear it down and start over. Instead, the family hired Old Saratoga Restorations to save every original bit of material that could be salvaged and rebuild the home to its previous grandeur. OSR gutted the interior and reinvented it based on the archaeological evidence for this home restoration. They added a new kitchen and bathrooms with high-end fixtures, custom-cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances. Outside, everything from the siding and trim to the dilapidated cupola on top needed to be replaced with duplicates.

This 1895 Victorian house has a whole new interior with tons of natural light coming from skylights and windows. Bright white cabinetry and walls accent this sun-filled space and stone gray counter tops provide a subtle contras.
