The conversation with our clients began with their request to replace an office and storage shed at their urban nursery. In short time the project grew to include an equipment storage area, ground floor office and a retreat on the second floor. This elevated sitting area captures breezes and provides views to adjacent greenhouses and nursery yards. The wood stove from the original shed heats the ground floor office. An open Rumford fireplace warms the upper sitting area. The exterior materials are cedar and galvanized roofing. Interior materials include douglas fir, stone, raw steel and concrete. This extension of a 100-year old cottage in beautiful, pastoral Little Compton created a comfortable, cozy environment for domestic life and entertaining – spaces that are as unpretentious as the simple original building. Unique elements include bluestone countertops and hearth slab, custom vessel sinks and tiles created by the owner – a talented ceramic artist, a freestanding two-way hearth, salvaged antique doors and hardware, interior sliding barn doors and custom walnut casework.

Traditional Tudor living room with exposed beams and traditional brushed brass fixtures. Original stained glass motifs set in diamond leaded glass casement windows. Built-in bookcase formerly covered the radiators. We painted the ceiling white and added dimmable can lights and chandeliers to brighten up the room.

Here we created a rear and side return which extended the kitchen area for this couple. Sky lights were installed within the new extension. New electrics and plumbing were installed. Fully fitted throughout was underfloor heating and floor tiling. The open plan Living area /Dining Room was decorated throughout The garden is a big part of their social life in the summer and we were directed to lay decking to the rear garden which backs onto the new extension.

Современные технологии предлагают альтернативный вариант в виде электрокамина, который без труда можно поставить в гостиной любой городской квартиры. Как правило, их размеры 40 см х100 см. или больше. Классический камин создает аристократичность интерьера, верность традициям. Картины старинных мастеров, семейные фото и другие реликвии дополнительно украсят интерьер гостиной. Около домашнего очага можно собираться для чаепития или проведения уютного вечера всей семьей. Камин уже предполагает зону отдыха и размышлений. Соответственно, хорошим и необходимым дополнением к нему является одно или два кресла, диван и журнальный столик. Кресла могут быть в одной цветовой гамме, а могут носить акцентный характер, выделяться и быть «изюминкой» всего интерьера.
