We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

A small, yet highly functional utility room was thoughtfully designed in order to maximise the space in this compact area. Double-height units were introduced to make the most of the utility room, offering ample storage options without compromising on style and practicality.

ATIID collaborated with these homeowners to curate new furnishings throughout the home while their down-to-the studs, raise-the-roof renovation, designed by Chambers Design, was underway. Pattern and color were everything to the owners, and classic “Americana” colors with a modern twist appear in the formal dining room, great room with gorgeous new screen porch, and the primary bedroom. Custom bedding that marries not-so-traditional checks and florals invites guests into each sumptuously layered bed. Vintage and contemporary area rugs in wool and jute provide color and warmth, grounding each space. Bold wallpapers were introduced in the powder and guest bathrooms, and custom draperies layered with natural fiber roman shades ala Cindy’s Window Fashions inspire the palettes and draw the eye out to the natural beauty beyond. Luxury abounds in each bathroom with gleaming chrome fixtures and classic finishes. A magnetic shade of blue paint envelops the gourmet kitchen and a buttery yellow creates a happy basement laundry room. Settled on a hillside in Sunol, where the cows come to graze at dawn, lies a brand new custom home that looks like it has been there for a hundred years – in a good way. Our clients came to us with an architect's house plans, but needed a builder to make their dream home come to life. In true Ridgecrest fashion, we ended up redesigning the entire home inside and out - creating what we now call the Sunol Homestead. A multitude of details came together to give us the perfect mix of a traditional Craftsman with modern amenities. We commissioned a local stone mason to hand-place every river stone on the exterior of the house - no veneer here. Floor to ceiling window and doors lead out to the wrap-around porch to let in beautiful natural light, while the custom stained wood floors and trim exude warmth and richness. Every detail of this meticulously designed residence reflects a commitment to quality and comfort, making it a haven for those seeking a harmonious balance between refined living and the peaceful serenity of Sunol's idyllic landscape.

HOMEOWNER DESIRED OUTCOME As part of an interior remodel and 200 sf room addition, to include a kitchen and guest bath remodel, these Dallas homeowners wanted to convert an existing laundry room into an updated laundry/mudroom. OUR CREATIVE SOLUTION The original laundry room, along with the surrounding home office and guest bath, were completely reconfigured and taken down to the studs. A small addition expanded the living space by about 200 sf allowing Blackline Renovations to build a larger laundry/mudroom space. The new laundry/mudroom now features a stacked washer and dryer with adjacent countertop space for folding and plenty of hidden cabinet storage. The new built-in bench with lockers features a v-groove back to match the paneling used in the adjacent hall bathroom. Timeless!

The laundry room was a major transformation that needed to occur, once a dark and gloomy dungeon is now a bright, and whimsical room that would make anyone be happy, doing the household chore of laundry. The Havana Ornate Silver tile flooring and Ice White backsplash tile translated nicely against the custom cabinetry. To accommodate the newest furriest member of the family, a hidden custom litter box pull-out was included in the cabinetry and cute cat door that would allow the new kitten to get in and out through its very own passageway.
