What makes this remodeling project unique is that it was designed for accessibility and built for two individuals with conflicting needs. He was tall and she was very petite. She was visually impaired while he was hearing impaired and difficulty lifting his feet so he shuffled a lot.
Some features to accommodate them are: toe kick lighting on a motion sensor so as soon as they come into the room the lights go on automatically
Grab bars at two different heights because of his size vs her size
Counter tops are different heights
He uses shower she uses tub
Hand held at the seat in the shower in case they need a wheelchair. Biggest challenge in completing this space was dropping the shower floor to the correct height because it doesn’t have a curb.

Morse Constructions
Our Brookline, MA client lost his limbs to a vicious strep infection but his partner is able-bodied. Morse's challenge was to create a beautiful bathroom that worked well for both of them. We created a striking space that achieved our client's objectives by using universal design principles and features such as: a zero threshold shower with trench drain, touchless faucets, a Duravit wall mounted toilet with sensowash system, rolling shower door, fold-down shower seat and a gliding entry door.

Award of Execellence Winner 2011, Home Builders Association of Maryland Remodelers Awards of Execellence, this project incorporated Universal Design principles and accessibility this bath was created for my client with mobility issues. A barrier free shower base, grab bars, dual shower heads and a teak seat were utilized in this space.
By creating a spa effect using horizontal format tiles, streamlined fixtures and clean maple cabinets, the bath was elevated to nurturing enviroment while able to function effectively for the client.

Montdor Interiors - Shaila Gottlieb
The challenge in this condo was to create an airy, high functioning, low budget kitchen, for a newly disabled chef and his wife. The original windowless kitchen felt gloomy and claustrophobic. In addition, the footprint had to be reduced to allow for wheelchair access to the adjacent bathroom. NOT words a chef wants to hear!!! In order to visually enlarge the space, and bring in natural light, a wall was removed, a doorway closed and the layout was reoriented.Cabinets were designed to maximize storage, while providing low, easy access to dishes, cookware, appliances and pantries. The granite table- height counter doubles as a wheelchair accessible prep and eating area. To save money,we chose thermafoil cabinets. The bookcases personalize the space, as they house his whimsical collection of chefs and favourite cookbooks, Elegant hard-wearing laminate floors were purchased with the wheelchair in mind.
