This recent project in Navan included: new mudroom built-in, home office and media centre ,a small bathroom vanity, walk in closet, master bedroom wall paneling and bench, a bedroom media centre with lots of drawer storage, a large ensuite vanity with make up area and upper cabinets in high gloss laquer. We also made a custom shower floor in african mahagony with natural hardoil finish. The design for the project was done by Penny Southam. All exterior finishes are bookmatched mahagony veneers and the accent colour is a stained quartercut engineered veneer. The inside of the cabinets features solid dovetailed mahagony drawers with the standard softclose. This is one of those projects that shows how fantastic modern design can work in an older home. Old and new design can not only coexist, it can transform a dated place into something new and exciting. Or as in this case can emphasize the beauty of the old and the new features of the house. The beautifully crafted original mouldings, suddenly draw attention against the reduced design of the Wenge wall paneling. The main floor of this Portland home is wide open from the entryway into the living room. Large windows overlooking the backyard let in a ton of natural light while engineered European White Oak flooring connects all the spaces.

Living room with built-in custom cabinets and ethanol-fuel vertical fireplace to the left of the entertainment cabinet. Floor is made of porcelain tile that looks like wood. Porcelain tile conducts heat more efficiently than wood.

On the corner of Franklin and Mulholland, within Mulholland Scenic View Corridor, we created a rustic, modern barn home for some of our favorite repeat clients. This home was envisioned as a second family home on the property, with a recording studio and unbeatable views of the canyon. We designed a 2-story wall of glass to orient views as the home opens up to take advantage of the privacy created by mature trees and proper site placement. Large sliding glass doors allow for an indoor outdoor experience and flow to the rear patio and yard. The interior finishes include wood-clad walls, natural stone, and intricate herringbone floors, as well as wood beams, and glass railings. It is the perfect combination of rustic and modern. The living room and dining room feature a double height space with access to the secondary bedroom from a catwalk walkway, as well as an in-home office space. High ceilings and extensive amounts of glass allow for natural light to flood the home.

This well-appointed lounge area is situated just adjacent to the study, in a grand, open-concept room. Intricate detailing on the fireplace, vintage books and floral prints all pull from traditional design style, and are nicely harmonized with the modern shapes of the accent chairs and sofa, and the small bust on the mantle.

Photography by Michael Biondo Photography ; This stunning green, contemporary home designed to nestle into its steep Westport lot by Ann Sellars and Howard Lathrop of Sellars Lathrop Architects, is beautifully crafted by Domus Constructors. Tight insulation, photovoltaic and thermal solar panels, deep overhangs and Lowen triple pane windows earned builder, Chris Shea, an outstanding 25 HERS rating. The interior boasts a magnificent free form radius staircase by New England Stair Company, which won a Special Focus Award, and the spectacular two-story library with steel catwalk (pictured) features a secret door to a spiral stair and cigar room. Other notable features include a glass walled wine room, a glass enclosed pentagon shaped sunroom and a Wetstyle tub in the spa bath.
