HISTORIC DISTRICT OF KALORAMA, A THREE-STORY BRICK CITY HOME IS RENOVATED AND ADDED TO. A DARK CONSERVATORY FORM IS ADDED CONTINUOUSLY ALONG THE BACK OF THE HOUSE SOLVING CIRCULATION ISSUES AND ADDING SPACE FOR A BREAKFAST ROOM. THE ADDITION REFERENCES CONSERVATORIES DESIGNED DURING THE TIME, THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL HISTORIC HOME AND THE NEW CONTRASTING ADDITION IS CLEAR. THE UPPER LANDING OF THE MAIN STAIRWAY WAS CHANGED TO WINDERS. THE BENEFIT OF WHICH PURCHASES ENOUGH RISE TO ALLOW CIRCULATION BELOW THE WINDERS ALLOWING ACCESS AND VIEW TO THE BACK GARDENS. INFORMAL KITCHEN, FAMILY AND BREAKFAST WERE OPENED UP TO ADDRESS MODERN LIVING, THE PARENTHESIS OF THE ORIGINAL ROOMS WAS LEFT CLEARLY DEFINED. BRICK WALLS ARE ALSO ADDED TO THE FRONT ACT AS A BASE ON THE FRONT.

The exterior of the home is an extension of the modern precision evident on the interior. Planes of stacked limestone, dark brick, and a daring cantilevered steel awning create a strong composition that hints at the detail and aesthetics beyond the front door.

Exterior Painting: We completed with two-tone gray and sunbeam yellow door. We painted brick the darker color with white trim.

This fabulous rustic-modern home measures more than 10,000 square feet with 2,000 square feet of customized outdoor spaces. The focus of our design was to create an open-floor layout and have each room connect with the next. Suitable for both family and entertaining purposes, our design offers all natural materials both on the interior and exterior. Not only does the interior offer plenty of room for entertaining, but we added a grotto and a pool to help move the fun to the outdoors. It truly is meant to make you feel like you’re on vacation all-year round.

This stunning home was designed to create impact from the street and privacy. The monochromatic colour palate adds interest and a minimalist back drop for the home.

Located on an established corner in the neighbourhood of Killarney in Calgary, AB, this new single-family custom home was designed to make a lasting impression.
With a striking rectangular design and plenty of modern clean lines, this home is full of character. Materials include smooth stucco, horizontal siding, brick, metal panelling and cedar accents – and of course, the large glass windows that are a hallmark of modern architecture.
The expansive windows wrap around the corners to let the light pour into the interior from multiple sides. Rather than incorporating the garage front and center like many contemporary homes, the home has a simple walkway to its stylish asymmetrical front entrance (the garage is located to the side of the home).

The exterior of this modern home has a high contrast between the dark gray brick and white accents. A built-in planter on the face of the house, spherical yard planters, and a modern walkway give this home a stunning curb appeal.

In August 2020, we sought planning permission for a single storey rear extension at Thurlaston Chapel – a Baptist church in Leicestershire.
Thurlaston Chapel had become a growing centre for the community and the extension plans were a conduit for the growing congregation to enjoy and to enable them to cater better in their events that involve the wider community.
We were tasked with designing an extension that not only provided the congregation with a functional space, but also enhanced the area and showcased the original property, its history and character.
The main feature of the design was the addition of a glass gable end and large glass panels in a more contemporary style with grey aluminium frames. These were introduced to frame the outdoor space, highlighting one of the church’s key features – the graveyard – while allowing visitors to see inside the church and the original architectural features of the property, creating a juxtaposition between the new and the old. We also wanted to maximise the beauty of the views and open the property up to the rear garden, providing churchgoers with better enjoyment of the surrounding green space, and bringing the outside in.
Internally, we added a glass partition between the original entrance hall and the new extension to link the spaces together. We also left the original wall of the previous extension in as feature wall to retain some of the original character and created a kitchen area and bar out of the original outbuilding, which we managed to tie into the new extension with a clever hipped roof layout, in order to cater for growing congregation.
