The Cattura down draft system from Best by Broan was the perfect ventilation solution for this kitchen. It is ducted straight out the exterior wall to an external blower, preserving the view of the garden. The light bar on the top of the Cattura is another added bonus. The home's primary dining table is within the confines of the kitchen which means family and guests can relax and socialize with the cook without getting underfoot. The former refridgerator was reinstalled, hence, the door is hinged for the former kitchen layout. Easy access was the mantra for this kitchen remodel project. Some of the features include the tandem pull-out trash and recycling bins and dual pull-out base pantries. Not photographed is the corner super susan, the pull-out shelves to the right of the prep sink, the tray dividers above the ovens and a custom pot lit holder above the refridgerator. The refrigerator and ovens are joined by a convenient countertop for loading and unloading items to/from the fridge and ovens. The open shelf between the refrigerator and ovens as well as the one to the right of the exterior door, provide additional decorative and easy access storage space. The panel around the microwave can be modified for a built-in model if ever one is desired. On the right hand side of the photo, in the background, is a doorless pantry that contains food storage, an electrical panel and a pass through to a traditional Japanese tea room. キッチンは美味しい食事を作るためには欠かせないスペース。毎日使う場所だからこそ、機能性だけではなくおしゃれさにもこだわりたいものです。ここでは、使い勝手の良さやおしゃれさにこだわったミッドセンチュリースタイルのコの字型キッチンのリフォーム事例と、コの字型キッチンリフォームのポイントをご紹介します。

コの字型キッチンの改善ポイントを考える

Ⅰ型コの字型キッチンは最も一般的なレイアウトで、シンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫が横一線に並んだタイプのコの字型キッチンです。最近では、対面カウンターを付けて背面に収納スペースと冷蔵庫を置くなど、Ⅱ型やアイランド型に似たタイプのレイアウトも人気です。
Ⅱ型コの字型キッチン
Ⅱ型キッチンはシンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫を2カ所に分け、平行に配置することで調理スペースを広げるレイアウトです。調理の際の動線が短くなるというメリットがあります。
L型コの字型キッチン
L型コの字型キッチンは、シンク、調理台、コンロがL字型に配置されたレイアウトです。ワークトライアングルを作りやすく、動線をコンパクトに抑えることができます。
アイランドコの字型キッチン
アイランドコの字型キッチンは独立型コの字型キッチンとも呼ばれ、シンク、調理台などを壁面から独立させて設置するレイアウトです。調理台を囲むように作業ができるため、家族や友人など複数で楽しみながらキッチンを共有できます。ホームパーティーや料理教室をする際にも便利でしょう。
ペニンシュラコの字型キッチン
ペニンシュラは英語で「半島」を意味します。コの字型キッチンの左右どちらかが壁に接しているレイアウトを指します。調理スペースがオープンになっているため、リビングやダイニングにいる方とコミュニケーションを取りながら調理できるというメリットがあります。

ビルトイン機器の選択

ミッドセンチュリースタイルのコの字型キッチンタイプのレイアウト見直しと同時に、ビルトイン機器も検討されてみてはいかがでしょうか。ビルトイン機器とは、建物や家具、設備などの中に組み込んで利用する機器を指します。システムキッチンには、ビルトインコンロ、レンジフード、オーブンレンジ、食器洗浄乾燥機を組み込むことが可能です。ビルトインであればスタイリッシュにコの字型キッチンに溶け込み、インテリアの邪魔にもなりません。新築やリフォームの際に取り入れることをおすすめします。

収納スペースのアイデア
