INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNWhat Stacey was after was a Shaker door with little ornamentation as possible – no extra beveling or grooves, no visible seams, and a 90° angle between the recessed panel and the edges of the frames. That last point about the 90° angle is why Stacey chose Scherr’s over Semihandmade Doors, another popular manufacturer of custom doors for IKEA kitchen cabinets. If you look very very carefully at SHM’s Supermatte Shaker door, you’ll notice what we mean.
Dreamwork Kitchensa far more efficient layout allows for many fewer steps between tasks. Pullouts fill otherwise wasted space under the ceiling beams. Raised counters hide prep work from guests.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNThis photo really gives you a sense of how the new peninsula brings things into much closer reach for the cook. The sink is Kraus and the countertop is soapstone. If that faucet looks familiar, you’re not having déjà vu. It’s the same one from last week’s kitchen! Just like IKD customer Liz, Stacey raved about the champagne color and loves how much it complements the grey Shaker style doors.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNThe open shelving was custom-built by Stacey’s husband to hold maximum weight. Stacey wanted to maintain some of the freedom of the door-free cabinets in the previous kitchen. The corner shelves hold items in frequent rotation so they never have a chance to get dusty.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNJust like Captain Ahab pursued the elusive white whale Moby Dick, IKD Customer Stacey sought a true Shaker style door for her IKEA kitchen. Unlike Captain Ahab, Stacey’s story has a happy ending. She found the true Shaker style door she was seeking at Scherr’s Cabinet & Doors.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNA BlueStar oven and range can handle many pots and pans at once, and the ZLINE range hood is powerful enough to get rid of smokiness or grease. While you can find both of those items online, the Boston Terrier is one-of-a-kind.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNOn the other side of the breakfast nook is the pantry. Look at all of those cabinets! Personally, we don’t think there’s anything this pantry section couldn’t hold. The two-tone look is pulled seamlessly into this section of the kitchen as well.
INSPIRED KITCHEN DESIGNWith the new peninsula, Stacey no longer needed that big awkward kitchen island that the neighbors referred to as “the aircraft carrier.” Instead IKD designed the bench for this lovely breakfast nook out of IKEA kitchen cabinets.

Our Mission:
To take a unique Mid-Century Design home and a replace the lovely existing Traditional Kitchen, and give it a Culinary Workspace that was at once complimentary to its Design Roots, while working with today’s lifestyle choices.
Challenges: Giving the client the modern airy style that they wished, while still working with the somewhat low front wall and the deep ceiling beams of this Deck House. At the same time listening to the client’s desire to make the work zones as hidden as possible from the surrounding rooms, keeping visual clutter to a minimum.
Success: Thru use of inventive paneling, Hidden pullouts and careful selection of door sizes to maintain uniformity of panel widths. The effect is a delicate balance between Mid-Century and Craftsman Designs. Our culinary wizard can perform many tasks at once, all without having to worry that her trade secrets will be reveled by a build up of visible clutter. The home finally has a workspace in harmony with its design.
