Our design studio designed a gut renovation of this home which opened up the floorplan and radically changed the functioning of the footprint. It features an array of patterned wallpaper, tiles, and floors complemented with a fresh palette, and statement lights. This Great room is where the family spends a majority of their time. A large navy blue velvet sectional is extra deep for hanging out or watching movies. We layered floral pillows, color blocked pillows, and a vintage rug fragment turned decorative pillow on the sectional. The sunny yellow chairs flank the fireplace and an oversized custom gray leather cocktail ottoman does double duty as a coffee table and extra seating. The large wood tray warms up the cool color palette. A trio of openwork brass chandeliers are scaled for the large space. We created a vertical element in the room with stacked gray stone and installed a reclaimed timber as a mantel.

While the majority of APD designs are created to meet the specific and unique needs of the client, this whole home remodel was completed in partnership with Black Sheep Construction as a high end house flip. From space planning to cabinet design, finishes to fixtures, appliances to plumbing, cabinet finish to hardware, paint to stone, siding to roofing; Amy created a design plan within the contractor’s remodel budget focusing on the details that would be important to the future home owner. What was a single story house that had fallen out of repair became a stunning Pacific Northwest modern lodge nestled in the woods!

Opening up the great room to the rest of the lower level was a major priority in this remodel. Walls were removed to allow more light and open-concept design transpire with the same LVT flooring throughout. The fireplace received a new look with splitface stone and cantilever hearth. Painting the back wall a rich blue gray brings focus to the heart of this home around the fireplace. New artwork and accessories accentuate the bold blue color. Large sliding glass doors to the back of the home are covered with a sleek roller shade and window cornice in a solid fabric with a geometric shape trim. Barn doors to the office add a little depth to the space when closed. Prospect into the family room, dining area, and stairway from the front door were important in this design.

H2D transformed this Mercer Island home into a light filled place to enjoy family, friends and the outdoors. The waterfront home had sweeping views of the lake which were obstructed with the original chopped up floor plan. The goal for the renovation was to open up the main floor to create a great room feel between the sitting room, kitchen, dining and living spaces. A new kitchen was designed for the space with warm toned VG fir shaker style cabinets, reclaimed beamed ceiling, expansive island, and large accordion doors out to the deck. The kitchen and dining room are oriented to take advantage of the waterfront views. Other newly remodeled spaces on the main floor include: entry, mudroom, laundry, pantry, and powder. The remodel of the second floor consisted of combining the existing rooms to create a dedicated master suite with bedroom, large spa-like bathroom, and walk in closet. Contemporary style four-season sunroom addition can be used year-round for hosting family gatherings, entertaining friends, or relaxing with a good book while enjoying the inviting views of the landscaped backyard and outdoor patio area. The gable roof sunroom addition features trapezoid windows, a white vaulted tongue and groove ceiling and a blue gray porcelain paver floor tile from Landmark’s Frontier20 collection. A luxurious ventless fireplace, finished in a white split limestone veneer surround with a brown stained custom cedar floating mantle, functions as the focal point and blends in beautifully with the neutral color palette of the custom-built sunroom and chic designer furnishings. All the windows are custom fit with remote controlled smart window shades for energy efficiency and functionality.
