The main level features almost 3,000 square feet of open living, from the charming entry with multiple window seats and built-in benches to the central 15 by 22-foot kitchen, 22 by 18-foot living room with fireplace and adjacent dining and a relaxing, almost 300-square-foot screened-in porch. Nearby is a private sitting room and a 14 by 15-foot master bedroom with built-ins and a spa-style double-sink bath with a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling. The main level also includes a work room and first floor laundry, while the 2,165-square-foot second level includes three bedroom suites, a loft and a separate 966-square-foot guest quarters with private living area, kitchen and bedroom. Rounding out the offerings is the 1,960-square-foot lower level, where you can rest and recuperate in the sauna after a workout in your nearby exercise room. Also featured is a 21 by 18-family room, a 14 by 17-square-foot home theater, and an 11 by 12-foot guest bedroom suite.

Our client is a pilot and world traveler. She wanted her space to feel elegant and comfortable so she can really relax between work. We were inspired by British Colonial decor and layered some neutral textures and fabrics to make it feel more contemporary and comfortable. How gorgeous is this fan?! And it even looks like a propeller - it fit perfectly!

Lounge Media unit This was a great project, transforming a small living space into a more functional room. The original alcoves either side of the fireplace were different depths and focused your eye. The client initially wanted two alcove units. My thoughts were to use linier lines to trick the eye into adding length to the room by not focusing on the width of the room. To make the room feel lighter, I proposed one side as an alcove unit and floating shelves in the other. The shelves had to line up for the aesthetics to work. I added a narrow shelving unit above two fake doors which helps the room look longer. I had made sure not to cover the window shutters, retaining as much natural light as possible. The two-tone colours, light internal and darker exterior definitely help this piece to be less intrusive. The TV is on a swing arm which we fitted and scribed the back panel around. When the TV is not in use it can be stowed away within the unit. The right-hand side of this unit is scribed around the fireplace breast leaving a seamless fit.

The green and blue hues mixed with a softer colour palette gives this siting room a refreshing feel. It is a relaxing and bright space to entertain guests or spend quality time with family in front of an open fire.

Formal lounge so elegant. From velvet plush couches to a cast iron fireplace and chandelier. The moulding and ceiling details perfect the space. Beautiful velvet navy drapes frame the original sash windows in the best way, breaking up the light bright backdrop. Touches of traditional and contemporary are the key here.

Built In Media Wall Unit spanning from wall to wall and enclosing alcoves and protruding chimney breast. The brief for the design was to create a contemporary fitted media cabinet with storage, shelving and lighting that would reduce the traditional look of the room. The media wall has touch open doors on concealed hinges with LED lighting spanning the width of the furniture. All the electronic hardware and games consoles are located in the lower cupboards with wiring routed behind the furniture so that it is not seen. The mix of american black walnut and high gloss white panelling was conceived to frame the two central spaces for the television and display shelving. Photograph and design by Andrew Carpenter
