This custom support kitchen is a gem. The scalloping at the top of the cabinets was patterned directly from the cottage on the property to compliment the windows that were used as the upper cabinet doors. The original pine finish shown on the front was actually inside of the cottage but when you open them they are blue, since the exterior of the cottage was white and blue. The blue and white tile coordinates with the antique hand painted dishware collected by the home owner. Butcher block countertops, a cast iron undermount sink, a bridge faucet and dutch door painted in Showstopper Red to match the front door helps complement this space.

A once dark and "oaky" '80s kitchen with an awkward flow pattern has been transformed into an open and airy modern kitchen that caters to the needs of a busy family. This first floor remodel was designed and constructed by Meadowlark Design + Build in Ann Arbor, MI. Photos by Sean Carter

This French Country inspired kitchen, designed by Curtis Lumber Company, features an island with a reclaimed wood countertop and hammered copper sinks. The cabinets are Merillat Masterpiece in the Bentley door style, the perimeter in Biscotti with Cocoa Glaze while the island is Sage with a Cocoa Glaze. The quartz countertop is by Cambria in Durham with an Ogee Edge on the perimeter. Barn doors conceal a large pantry and the laundry center is hidden behind double doors. The kitchen incorporates in-cabinet storage solutions, a baking station, stacked glass cabinets, an apron front sink, and gorgeous touches in the faucets, hardware and lighting to bring this unique look all together. This active family purchased their home and began remodeling before moving in. The out-dated kitchen had oak cabinets and 4" orange tile on the countertops that had to go! (see before photos) It was replaced with a light and bright eat in kitchen. The expansive island provides ample counter space not only for baking and eating, but homework and crafts. Original 1953 mid century custom home was renovated with minimal wall removals in order to maintain the original charm of this home. Several features and finishes were kept or restored from the original finish of the house. The new products and finishes were chosen to emphasize the original custom decor and architecture.
