This Biscayne Bay kitchen renovation embraces a modern, monochromatic approach. The textured backsplash, fluted hood, and bold coffee table area inject personality into the space, while maintaining a sleek and modern culinary space.

L'architecte a joué avec les tendances actuelles pour donner du cachet à cet appartement. Dans la cuisine nous avons installé un claustra, ce système permet de laisser passer la lumière tout en cloisonnant une pièce. Dans la SDB nous avons joué avec des carrelages pâles qui viennent mettre en valeur une robinetterie noire carbon. L'immeuble était à chauffage collectif, cela veut dire qu'il est impossible de changer les radiateurs. Ces derniers ont été camouflés avec un coffrage sur-meure fait sur place par notre menuisier.

A double larder houses not only the ambient food, but also items that typically sit out on worktops such as the kettle and toaster. INCROYABLE MÉTAMORPHOSE ! Du sol au plafond, cette cuisine est méconnaissable. Aucun détail n’a été laissé au hasard. Le plan en L découpé en un seul morceau assure une continuité du veinage du marbre pour plus d’élégance. Le vitrage étant particulièrement bas, une découpe sur-mesure a été réalisée en usine. Mes clients souhaitaient que les enfants puissent avoir accès au four à micro-ondes. Nous l’avons installé à la bonne hauteur. Le bloc cuisson étant tourné vers le séjour, j’ai proposé une hotte au plafond plus moderne qui vient sublimer l’espace. Cette nouvelle cuisine est à la fois fonctionnelle, chic et si lumineuse. FORBES TOWNHOUSE Park Slope, Brooklyn Abelow Sherman Architects Partner-in-Charge: David Sherman Contractor: Top Drawer Construction Photographer: Mikiko Kikuyama Completed: 2007 Project Team: Rosie Donovan, Mara Ayuso This project upgrades a brownstone in the Park Slope Historic District in a distinctive manner. The clients are both trained in the visual arts, and have well-developed sensibilities about how a house is used as well as how elements from certain eras can interact visually. A lively dialogue has resulted in a design in which the architectural and construction interventions appear as a subtle background to the decorating. The intended effect is that the structure of each room appears to have a “timeless” quality, while the fit-ups, loose furniture, and lighting appear more contemporary. Thus the bathrooms are sheathed in mosaic tile, with a rough texture, and of indeterminate origin. The color palette is generally muted. The fixtures however are modern Italian. A kitchen features rough brick walls and exposed wood beams, as crooked as can be, while the cabinets within are modernist overlay slabs of walnut veneer. Throughout the house, the visible components include thick Cararra marble, new mahogany windows with weights-and-pulleys, new steel sash windows and doors, and period light fixtures. What is not seen is a state-of-the-art infrastructure consisting of a new hot water plant, structured cabling, new electrical service and plumbing piping. Because of an unusual relationship with its site, there is no backyard to speak of, only an eight foot deep space between the building’s first floor extension and the property line. In order to offset this problem, a series of Ipe wood decks were designed, and very precisely built to less than 1/8 inch tolerance. Nos clients ont fait l’acquisition de deux biens sur deux étages, et nous ont confié ce projet pour créer un seul cocon chaleureux pour toute la famille. ?‍?‍?‍? Dans l’appartement du bas situé au premier étage, le défi était de créer un espace de vie convivial avec beaucoup de rangements. Nous avons donc agrandi l’entrée sur le palier, créé un escalier avec de nombreux rangements intégrés et un claustra en bois sur mesure servant de garde-corps. Pour prolonger l’espace familial à l’extérieur, une terrasse a également vu le jour. Le salon, entièrement ouvert, fait le lien entre cette terrasse et le reste du séjour. Ce dernier est composé d’un espace repas pouvant accueillir 8 personnes et d’une cuisine ouverte avec un grand plan de travail et de nombreux rangements. A l’étage, on retrouve les chambres ainsi qu’une belle salle de bain que nos clients souhaitaient lumineuse et complète avec douche, baignoire et toilettes. ✨

Le projet : Aux Batignolles, un studio parisien de 25m2 laissé dans son jus avec une minuscule cuisine biscornue dans l’entrée et une salle de bains avec WC, vieillotte en plein milieu de l’appartement. La jeune propriétaire souhaite revoir intégralement les espaces pour obtenir un studio très fonctionnel et clair. Notre solution : Nous allons faire table rase du passé et supprimer tous les murs. Grâce à une surélévation partielle du plancher pour les conduits sanitaires, nous allons repenser intégralement l’espace tout en tenant compte de différentes contraintes techniques. Une chambre en alcôve surélevée avec des rangements tiroirs dissimulés en dessous, dont un avec une marche escamotable, est créée dans l’espace séjour. Un dressing coulissant à la verticale complète les rangements et une verrière laissera passer la lumière. La salle de bains est équipée d’une grande douche à l’italienne et d’un plan vasque sur-mesure avec lave-linge encastré. Les WC sont indépendants. La cuisine est ouverte sur le séjour et est équipée de tout l’électroménager nécessaire avec un îlot repas très convivial. Un meuble d’angle menuisé permet de ranger livres et vaisselle.
